And yeah, when the wind and rain kicks in proper, make sure you've got a decent mid length raincoat, you'll fucking need it unless you want soaked legs every time you leave the house

I often find places like that are at their most stunning in those conditions, but that's based on a couple of days. I don't know whether you get over the spectacle and then it's just miserable if you're living there.

Looks stunning! Congrats on the new job/lifestyle too. Islay is a place I'd never really thought about visiting as we generally either go straight past on the way to Ardnamurchan or further north. Must add it to the detour list now.

Absolutely epic, I could really go for island life myself (although I'd prefer it to be a bit warmer). I can now realistically work from anywhere in my job as they changed our contracts, I have mentioned to my wife about relocating (possibly to the Isle of Wight) but with my younger son just hitting GCSE year it's not practical just yet. Pretty hard to get across in 350kB but, ja, we moved to Islay on Saturday to make whisky. If you 'know your malts' you'll be able to guess who I'm working for. Amazing so far, weather good, both kids into the High School, missus has landed a job at the school despite bringing her old job with her on a remote basis, so will sack off the same sh1t company I used to work for. I don't start until Monday so the reality will bite then, but I'm looking forward to the challenge and just have to tell myself I know my stuff after 25 years; I just need to learn the new industry, people & technology.
We visited two beaches today that put 'The Beach' firmly into the shade, truly paradise.
The weather is due to turn shit this w/e so I expect it to feel a bit more real then.

Absolutely amazing, that's an incredible view to have. Keep us updated on what life is like as an islander, these big moves become ever more tempting as I grow up!
