First you agree with Jobbo twice, and now you're agreeing with me? What the fuck is wrong with you?

I know it's already reviewed here a couple of times but we just watched A Star is Born last night. The O/H had been nagging for me to find it for a week or so, and I found it on a friend's Plex server last night.
A few observations. Don't forget this has been a film 3 times before, but obviously Cooper (as part screenwriter) put his own spin on it. Christ can Gaga sing. She's got a hell of a set of lungs on her. Cooper didn't let the side down either. The whole film drew my in much deeper than I thought it would and you really got to understand the whirlwind of a girl dun good.
I'd not seen any of the other versions before so some of the the big parts of the story felt like brave writing decisions. I would've been easier if the story had gone another way, but not better.
My only criticism is that you had no concept of 'time' in the film. How many months was it from when they first met to the end?
8.5 platinum hair do's out of 10.

Jolly good fun. It’s good to know that my cat that got left in the UK is now an international film star
Couldn’t quite get my head around why Nirvana turned up amongst all the gurrl powah tunes but decent all the same.
8 out of 10 SSs

Agreed! Decent soundtrack and the rapport that CD seemed to have with Fury was really good.

Caught up with a bunch of movies yesterday.
Aquaman
Much more fun than I was expecting, spectacularly dumb but it had a good sense of humour. Definitely one of the best DC movies, although that's not saying much.
Creed 2
More of the same but that's no bad thing. If you've ever seen a Rocky movie you know what to expect. I liked it.
Green Book
It was alright, Viggo Mortensen and Marshala Ali were good but the actual story was pretty cliche. Worth watching if you like the actors, which is why I watched it.
Widows
New movie from Steve McQueen and a bit of a change of direction for him. It's a heist movie about a bunch of robbers widows who decide to do the last job their husbands had planned because they need the money. It was an alright movie but it was missing sometihng compared to his previous films. A bit disappointing tbh.

Dirt - it's exactly what it is - a biopic of Motley Crue from origins to roughly mid-90s. Entertaining enough. Plenty of eye candy. Did leave me thinking there's no way you'd get away with even 1/10th of that behaviour these days - they had far too much fun

. 7.5/10.

Much laughter. Enjoyedification.

Another beautiful Wes Anderson film. He’s still my favourite director/film maker.

First to the punch with all the up to date reveiws as usual, last night I watched Snatch for the first time.
Bricktop has all the best lines. Statham plays Statham, as usual. Brad Pitt was incredible and mostly unintelligible.
9 Dags out of 10.

It took me a long time to really get into Wes Anderson but Grand Budapest Hotel is a brilliant movie.

Can we expect more cutting-edge, up-to-date reviews such as this?

To be fair, that's a pretty accurate review.

Indeed, but I feel as if we all drew essentially the same conclusion back in, say, the year 2000.

He's snuck inside the two decade cut off. Expect all the highlights from the hit 2001 releases coming up soon

James - just FYI, the film 2001 was actually released in 2001. Just to save any embarrassment.

I think my calendar is broken.
I either missed Snatch first time round (perhaps not to First ex wife's taste) or lost the memories of it in the "Jimmy's gone crazy" years.
You can expect much more up to date film reviews soon. Next is Lock, Stock and two smoking barrels, The long good friday, Airplane, Bullet and then a black and white film of a train pulling into a station.
