I can’t wait to see LeClerc vs Vettel. Vettel was stupid (again) today.

If Lewis wins next race and Vettel is anything other than 2nd the championship is Lewis’s

I'm surprised Vettel didn't get a penalty for hitting into Max, and a was surprise Max only got a 5 second penalty for hitting into Kimi.

I think Vettel vs Max was 50:50. Vettel was daft to throw it up the inside and expect it to stick, and Max defended robustly by moving more to the left that he strictly needed.

Max vs Kimi I think 5 seconds was fair, given what time Kimi actually lost. If Max has just gone straight on, he’d have still been ahead anyway.

Max made me laugh in the interviews, saying Kimi could have just waited, because overtaking is just a case of saying “excuse me please” and then the other apologising for being in way

He’s a bit Maldonado under pressure. You don’t need your number one driver throwing points away several times through the season all on his own.

I wonder what they'd do if VB was ahead in a Merc 1-2 in Texas. If I was LH I'm not sure I'd like to win the championship with a driver switch.

It's as good as put to bed now anyway, even if LH couldn't drive I'm sure any old replacement plus VB could prevent SV from accumulating enough points.

I think Lewis would refuse a driver switch if it came down to it in Austin.

Well we already know that wouldn’t happen in the Ferrari camp anyway because they left SV hung out to dry in Japan when they could have swapped him with Kimi but to entertain the idea I guess Merc would swap because like Ferrari they’ve too got very recent history of putting a swap in.

If it was VB, LH, SV and not KR in 4th I think Lewis would refuse the swap.

So finally got around to cancelling Sky Sports, having taken the time to realise that other than The Open, I’d watched zero sport and hence, zero F1 this year, or last, or the year before... When I consider how many races I saw when I was a good deal younger, this actually makes me a little sad (requote at will).

Sounds good to me.

I don’t know why F1 is so anti ground effect and active suspension. They could have the same laptimes for much less expenditure and less dirty air. Plus they can relate them even more to road cars with the active suspension since they love telling the punters how F1 components are the same as what they have in their road cars.

Just think, in 2021 you will be able to buy a hybrid C class with 18 inch rims and spec the adaptive suspension and you will have a car identical to Lewis Hamilton’s in all but bodywork.

Ground effect is banned on safety grounds. It's too prone to a sudden and uncontrollable loss of downforce.

Ferrari will not sack Vettel until Leclerc is winning races.

One problem is that Vettel needs a car and team built around him, like it was at Red Bull. If he even thinks that he's under pressure, he starts getting silly. If he starts at the front, he can scamper away into the distance but if he's actually got to race for positions, he's in trouble.

The other problem is Ferrari themselves. The only time they've been dominant in living memory was when Brawn, Bryne and Todt were running the team in a very un-Italian way. This year, they've been shooting themselves in the foot regularly with questionable choices and missed opportunity.

Remember when SV was racing for RBR, Danny Ric was out scoring him in the year before he went to Ferrari.

Except Vettel won’t have anywhere to go to this time will he?
