I was going to put this in the randomness thread but I don't want to derail the breakfast discussion:
Interesting; I've always thought the jar stuff is a bit nicer but never compared them back to back.

It probably shouldn't be posted here, but we've just opened a jar of these (what we did purchase in a deli a few weeks back) and the contents are most splendid.
Consistency not dissimilar to sun-blushed tommies - but obs via smokying as opposed to sunning.....
I hope you bought that jar on a Scottish island, since the label already covers islands in England and Wales.

And yet they appear to have forgot how to spell Anglesey.

Which deli was that at mik?
I’d quite like to try that.

We had to go to Stirling for something, so picked this up at the Smiddy in Doune. They have a great shop.

Hello dinner!
@McSwede fancy renaming the Fred by removing the lockdown bit?
It is a turbot. Walked past a proper fishmonger while out and about, and couldn't resist.

I think I have one of those strapped to the side of the M135i's engine.

Great fish although I have a complete disdain for cooking them at home. In fact, that applies to all flat fish, despite them being generally lovely to eat.

Prepped by the fishmonger, so all I had to do was what you can see in the picture. It was lush.
Been very lazy of late with food, everything’s been freezer food with oven chips or takeaways, probably linked to my mental health thread post, because I used to cook many meals from scratch
Tonight’s tea was pigs in blankets toad in the hole. Can confirm the bacon elevates this massively, the base soaks all the bacon flavour up

Sounds very nice!
I did a couple of venison shanks in the slow cooker, served with mash and braised cabbage. Thickened the cooking liquid into a rich gravy and that's it. Was very delicious. Probably about an hour's work all in.

Made a beef hotpot yesterday using wagyu chuck - the meal was good, but the beef was something else. The high fat meat was so tender as expected but it also kept itself intact in chunks and didn’t just break up into nothing. Chuck is nowhere near as expensive and will be trying out a few different ideas with it now.
Also, ketchup - I had this and it’s better than Stokes imho.. love it!
