I WFH anyway as the commute to Grand Bahamas is a bitch. I'm not doing much different as I'm not generally exposed to "poeple" too much, other than a drop of hand sanitiser when I'm back to the car after going wherever.

I AM doing my best to support local small businesses more than usual though. Some of these folks are going to face ruin through fearmongering.

Went with my dad this morning to order building materials, if we end up in a proper lockdown at least it will give us something to do.
He then ordered a cubic metre of lawn feed and fertiliser, scarified and aerator because his plan is basically to get the garden sorted for once 😂

We're not really exposed to people much although we have been to a football match and gig this week. We're now on a WFH policy at the client I'm at and are putting measures in place to allow more of their staff then ever to WFH. I'll still pop in to smaller offices if it helps things.

No stockpiling here, so just see what happens.

Our folks are all further north than us so despite their age, are probably at far less risk of contracting it just now due to the incredibly small populations and even smaller number of people they all have daily interactions with.

Not entirely sure the government are on top of things given some of the comments from the WHO.

After lots of terrible doom talk I’m going to a job during my off shift. The person currently there is having to fly back to Norway so I’ll take over.

I’m happy of the work to be honest.

Dave!

Similar thought have crossed my mind. I'm supposed to be building a summerhouse in the garden at some point this year, but don't have any plans / materials yet.

Plenty of other automotive projects to crack on with if there is an enforced shutdown at work, just hope the weather is a bit better if / when it comes...

The concept of deliberally exposing large parts of the population to it in it's wild form, to build up herd immunity, is laughably stupid.
So are you saying that this time we should ignore the experts?

And what are you actually suggesting we should do differently?
Experts think it’s a dumb idea too ;)

Like I said earlier, to me it looks like they know they’ve left it too late to do anything about this so they’re spinning doing nothing as the plan all along.

New Zealand’s strategy doesn’t make much sense either and will only work if they keep the quarantine period imposed until a vaccine is made - very risky as this may take years.

There's never going to be a single right answer is there? And whatever is done there will be with hindsight after the event be things which could have been done better.

So my missus went to the Cheltenham Gold Cup and I went to a gig Thurs so we're just waiting for death really 😁

My three colleagues and I work goods in/out so we're main point of contact at our work. All arrivals are told to wash their hands on entry, we wear new pair of gloves every driver, we're obsessively hand washing etc, mainly because we're afraid of a bollocking from management. They're all shitting themselves and handing the agro and 'action plans' on to us because it's the most 'serious' thing they've ever dealt with. Utter pain in the arse. However, I don't see how they could be seen to do anything else in the circumstances 😵

The idea isn't to stop it completely. The aim is to spread out the period of time over which the cases appear so the hospital resources aren't swamped all at once. NZ is a comparatively tiny county by population spread over fairy large islands, miles away from anyone else so the buffer of emergency hospital care capacity is pretty slim with no backup easily at hand when the rest of the world is grappling with their own cases.

Right, I see the theory and every minister standing there with that graph but theory is one thing and reality another.

Wonder how the U.K. figures will be seeing as they only test hospital cases now. To think we were giving China shit for not being transparent

China and Italy had a mass of infections in one place in a pretty short period of time which have then spread out from there. Has anywhere else had that?

Some experts. I'll take what WHO say with a pinch of salt as well - im sure Beanys got some views on them!

Ultimately we won't know who was right or wrong or even if there's a right way at all until the dust settles a very long way down the line.

I'm more concerned about whether the NHS is even setup for treating patients at all going off some things I've heard.

So 342 more cases today, and that’s probably just hospital cases now.
Somehow I don’t see it being delayed much.

Norwich was more like a quiet weekday than a Saturday today, but fine with me we had no bother parking for once! Had lunch in a Korean restaurant which was pretty full, so all good there.

Other than people obviously opening doors with their sleeves over their hands didn't seem to be much different going on to usual.

The numbers are all complete fiction now anyway, a good friend of mine is home with a fever and cough. She’s just been told to self isolate, no testing, no recording the data, no conclusive proof either way.

There could be a million like her or a hundred. Who knows.
