It depends what you mean by "more" - I suspect it's more the 'event' of an RS6 that appeals. I doubt much of that 572bhp is usable on modern roads, and it's probably not much more practical. It's certainly going to cost significantly more to run...
...but....572bhp V10.

I’m sure you know already Rev, RE 996s, £2k p.a. running cost to be expected (less if DIY), plus £10k slush fund for the engine.

I’d rather have a C7 S6 than a C6 RS6. There’s something about the C6 I don’t like, and the performance never seemed to live up to the quoted power, while the S6 has the same basic 4.0 twin turbo V8 as the C7 RS6 so plenty of tuning scope if 450bhp isn’t enough.

With the weather picking up I’m actually a teensy bit jealous of your car.
It's been handy given the carpets were damp after that drain hole blockage issue - I legitamately an excuse for dropping the roof any time I went anywhere in the car the last couple of weeks when it's been dry - gotta air it out, eh?
I did also have a cheeky full bore, slippy at the back start across a junction (don't really get the excuse to that sort of thing around here) on the detour route, which was a giggle.
Makes a lovely growl around 3-5krpm, mix of induction and exhaust, which I'd like to hear more often. Must sniff around for used airboxes and stick some holes in one...

Snapped up some bargain genuine M3 mirrors for The Compact. Need to paint them. Or leave them as they tie in with the harnesses.

996 C4S is quite happy as a daily, in fact they cope better with regular use, how many miles PA are you taking about doing in them?
Mine is 17 yrs old now and is a decent balance of being modern-ish but still reasonably quick, although at 17 years old they love a 4 figure bill, mine for example has had probably £22k spent in the last 5 years.
£12k Hartech engine rebuild
All Radiators
Exhaust system plus general servicing.
I since replaced all the dampers with updated billies, top mounts, a few arms and various other suspension components.
Plus a wheel Refurb, new Michelin’s and new discs and pads all round and calliper refurb.
It’s currently in for a misfire and it’s had the maf, coils and plugs plus a service and mot inc gearbox oil change.
I am not using it and may sell so if you are seriously in the hunt drop me a line 2002 black/black, nav, sports seats, litronics, no sunroof so alcantara roof, manuel obviously, with only 66k.
If keeping it I need a few bits of bodywork attended to then I genuinely believe it must be one of the best out there, feels incredibly tight, all horses are present and correct and with the new exhaust and K&N it genuinely sounds like a proper 911!

Maintenance is ridiculous on the C6 RS6 - they're at the age now where they all need that hidden aluminium coolant pipe replacing.

It’s not a reliability issue, it’s that C4S prices are climbing and I’d be worried about impacting the value by using it, whereas I’d be happy to properly use a ropey C2 worth half as much. I’m only looking at doing up to 10k miles a year, so not a huge amount but it will still be a daily-ish car, not a toy to be polished.

I always fancied seeing how they looked with the base section up to the join done satin black with the mirror bit colour coded. I think all colour coded they can look a bit too big, while the black base would be a bit more like the oe setup.
