Mito Man wrote: Thu Jul 28, 2022 4:33 pm Seb wasn't very good wheel to wheel (frankly neither is Max) but when he had the fastest car he'd stick it on pole and then go on win the race by not making any silly mistakes - something which Leclerc needs to learn.
Seb did make silly mistakes when pressurised, Max is less prone to that and whilst Max is a bit over the limit of fair racing, is definitely better wheel to wheel than Seb ever was IMO.

Agree the Leclerc needs to eradicate that though!

Russell P1. Red Bull 10 and 11. Looking like it's a good race tomorrow!

What was amazing was none of Russell’s pole lap sectors were purple- just shows the power of overall consistency

That did confuse me for a moment, as it's so much more common for a pole sitter to have one or two purple sectors

A well deserved pole position 😎

8-) Great stuff from GR.

With Merc's rate of development you do wonder whether this has come at the perfect time just before the summer break, they could come out the other side of it looking very strong indeed.

Can't help thinking that Merc running near the front will play into Max's hands in WDC terms though.

Wait until spa when the new regs for the rigid plank come in. The way red bull and Ferrari have been kicking off about it may take a decent amount of pace off them

Livened up at the end, shame Russell didn’t get his win but the Mercedes is getting better.
Binotto probably regretting saying they’d get a 1,2 yesterday 😂

Shame about the VSC at the end, that was an excellent race.

Given what happened in today's race, I can't help but feel you're right

Reckon merc could be on for 2nd in the constructors, which given where they and Ferrari started is pretty amazing!

The only upside of another Verstappen WDC is that Christian Horner might well spontaneously explode with smugness.

I reckon Leclerc will be out of Ferrari soon if he keeps up the public moaning.

Alpine have announced Piastri as replacing Alonso but he's come out saying he's definitely not driving for them!!

Interesting. I'm guessing someone at Alpine has some explaining to do.
