Caterham service agent happened to be coming my way delivering another 7, and is now picking mine up on the trailer on the way back for a service and checkover. Given he's 75ish miles away, bit of a result

Parked my car in an NCP in Nottingham yesterday about 15.30 and as usual double checked it was locked up and headed to my hotel to meet up with a colleague and go out for an evenings bevvies. Come 11am this morning and I stride back to the car park to jump in the car and as I walk over to it I notice the drivers side window is fully open. Car still locked, Oakley's still on the dash as well as everything else that I left in the car.

How strange?? Can't believe it didn't get robbed

Weighed it up with if it’s in situ the head is still coming off and the timing belt will still have to be done, if the block isn’t scored then rings and back together. If the block is scored then it would have to come out so ‘lose’ those hours, also easier to time the engine with it out and can change the clutch while it’s out (no history of a clutch being done in the paperwork). First option if it worked out would have been the cheapest way by about 4/5 hours labour, second way means clutch is done and that adds value at resale point.

I wouldn't engine swap it with a Mini

Only drivers window open which is strange. Not sure how it's happened

The taxi has arrived at the dealership. Should've been last week for collection Sat but will now be this Sat coming.



In 330 news, it threw a low battery warning for the key today but only once. Then on the way home it threw a headlight warning. This is after a low oil warning last week despite it being fine. Started to think it might be the battery going sending things a bit mad.

Turns out it had blown a headlight bulb. One of the nighbreakers - arse. Have a spare std one at home so swapped out but now have two different coloured headlights. Will have to sort more nightbreakers.

You can set the car to only unlock the drivers door IIRC, only opening the rest on another click. And p'raps for some bizarre reason, global open can be applied just to one door too. But again, how would the door still be locked if 'global open' had been set - given that's 'hold the unlock button for a few seconds'.....

If your fob is set to open driver’s door on first press, keeping it pressed will open the driver’s window. After a set amount of time, the car will re-lock itself if the door hasn’t been opened. Guess it doesn’t close the window.

You can get the window drop coded out. We did on the 125

It’s just your car sharing the same security frequency as another one in the parking lot most likely. At the car park in my flat there used to be a 307 which I could unlock and lock with my fob so I would park well away from it. Also had it happen a few other times out in public car parks.

Ah, that might explain it, I didn't realise the 'one door unlock' affected 'global' opening of the windows, too.
