Nobody told me there was a communication problem ;)
That was in the previous memo that Marv sent out.

Same colour as before, they’re almost silver in the sunlight and close to body colour the rest of them time. Main attraction being that I can pretty much get by with hardly ever washing it as the whole car is the colour of road grime

That's similar to the colour mine are on the X5. Can't wait to get them painted.

I think yours is closer to anthracite. I didn’t know what colour mine were and had to get them colour matched, my dad said it was done in a Schnitzer colour originally but I still couldn’t find anything about it.

Galaxy now sporting a radio shaped and sized hole in the dash. The radio is normally always on, so the enforced silence means I can hear all the noises the car makes that I didn't notice before.

Shop I took it to was busy fitting a tracker to a Lamborghini Urus. It is a big beast and not exactly that great close up. Fake plastic vents on the wings, most of the trim with Audi logos showing on the backs and it just didn't look £230k+ special. Lots of bits of plastic everywhere.

Appearance not helped by this one being filthy and it didn't look like it had been treated like a car costing more than a house should be (no PPF, scuff marks on the trim, etc.). Did have a chuckle at the brake discs though, front ones could easily have doubled as a plate for a family size pizza.

Tbf the Urus is £160k

Prices are all on their website.

That’s how a 645 looks on new OEM springs - see 2004 press car pics here. Most look lower these days because they’re on worn springs.

Back in 2004 they didn’t do a sport version either so later sports ones may be lower as standard, don’t know for sure.

As if anyone buys the base model... But yes, supposedly starts at £165k. Still didn't look £165k special either.

I did think that after typing - it looks like mine has since I refreshed the chassis 12mo ago

Have noticed (it may have been there before, but not sure) a slight rattle coming from the left front. Seems lower/deeper down than the glove box so wondering if it's the wheel arch liner after bouncing the kerbs at Thruxton on Monday.

Had a staffer bump the car in the car park today. Minor spider-web crack in the bumper paint, small ding, likely pop/polish out. Really not a thing to worry about, both cars did exactly what they were meant to do - which is 'give'.

Otherwise, nothing to report, other than a couple of days with the roof down has got rid of most of the dampness in the carpet.

Ho hum.

M140i booked in for its first service. Should be nearly 21k when it gets done which is the longest std interval on any car I've had. Usual robbing cnut stuff going on when asking for £316 for an oil change and a once over. Doing it whilst I wait which is also convenient.

Shoulder of front tyres are pretty bald so they are not long until changing. I'll go up from 88 to 92 load rating for a slightly stiffer side wall this time and make them PS4 too.

For curiosities sake I may run it for a month on std unleaded instead of SUL just to see if I can notice any difference and see what it does to my mpg and running costs.

Dropped the wife's car off for a service this morning at the BMW dealer only to be told they cancelled the appointment because there was "no way" they could fit it in today (it's a minor oil service). I asked them why they hadn't bothered to inform me, the said "well, we sent a text" but couldn't say when, or who to. I asked to speak to the manager, on the basis that I felt this wasn't quite the level of customer service one expected from a premium product and, after service bloke spent 2 minutes chatting with some bloke in a glass office, he then told me "actually, Friday's aren't usually that busy" and promptly booked it in. Bizarre.

MrsREV had originally intended to have the car serviced at the dealer we bought it from (I'm sure your remember deposit-gate) but they tried to rip her off. She'd gone on the BMW website, which asked her to put her reg number in and gave her a price of £277 for the service. When she called to book it in, they told her that those prices were for older cars and that it would be £360. She asked for a breakdown of the cost: £80 oil, £80 filters, £200 labour. The dealer we ended up taking it to are charging £268. It's still a lot for a service but, as it's the car's first service, I caved in to keeping FBMWSH.

What I also suddenly twigged today, is that my recent "purchase" problems (the Golf R that I agreed to lease which then wasn't available until I kicked off with VWUK, and the aforementioned Deposit Debacle) were both with the same dealer group, Halliwell Jones. so given that and the attempted rip-off, I won't make the mistake of using them again.

AFAIAA Rev, if you get a quoted price from the BMW website, they are supposed to do it for that. Fixed Price Servicing IIRC. It might be worth reporting them, if you can be arsed.

I never use them for anything that's not warranty work hence I don't know.

Or indeed, any product. I wouldn't expect that from Ford if I dropped of the Mondeo anymore than I'd expect it from Mercedes if I dropped off the C Class.

Possibly irrelevant comparison with the 140 but I did this with my 135 and it was cost effective to continue using Super. I'd forgotten how much cheaper petrol is than diesel so I'm quite happy putting SUL in my new one!

I think a lot of people forget this.

Anecdotally the V8 petrol E53 is proving cheaper on fuel than the 3.0D one I had. Which is f*cking madness.
