Like Dinny alluded to I don't think people realise the black end is an ambient temperature probe and use it to pull the probe out of the meat thinking it's a heat proof handle.unzippy wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 3:00 pm I've got a Meater block, backed them on the kicktarter.
Took so long that I had to change my delivery address 3 times, the last time to Aus
It's very good, the one probe doing two different temps is genius.
That looks like ridiculously good value compared to igrill3 or Meater, what's the catch?JonMad wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 12:57 pm I got one of these recently and it's great. One proble in the meat, one in the BBQ in the open
Also does great to tell me when a load of bread is cooked perfectly (90 deg C in the middle)
And you get a geeky chart to watch

I’m guessing the catch is you’ll be on your third one of those while the Weber unit is still going strong??duncs500 wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 3:46 pmThat looks like ridiculously good value compared to igrill3 or Meater, what's the catch?JonMad wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 12:57 pm I got one of these recently and it's great. Yes and no because it didn't come with them. Can't miss what you haven't hadSimon wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 5:26 pm OK so it looks like we've decided on the cheaper Weber Performer. Thing is that it doesn't have a couple of features of the Master-Touch like the char-ring, diffuser plate and sear grate, and you can't buy those bits separately. So would we miss them? Does anyone here have the Master-Touch and use them?
The ring is just a charcoal basket to keep the charcoal in the centre but the Performer comes with Charcoal Baskets which you either split or bring together to do the job of the ring.Simon wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 5:26 pm OK so it looks like we've decided on the cheaper Weber Performer. Glad I spotted it! Enjoy
Awesome, thanks. That won't affect our decision then. Will likely pick up a cover and the warmer rack too.Carlos wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 7:29 pmThe ring is just a charcoal basket to keep the charcoal in the centre but the Performer comes with Charcoal Baskets which you either split or bring together to do the job of the ring.Simon wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 5:26 pm OK so it looks like we've decided on the cheaper Weber Performer. The diffuser is just a metal plate that sits on the ring. You can get generic plates if you wanted one but you don't need one to smoke.
It's not wireless, the cables will get wrapped around the rotitsserieduncs500 wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 3:46 pmThat looks like ridiculously good value compared to igrill3 or Meater, what's the catch?JonMad wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 12:57 pm I got one of these recently and it's great. The bits that drop in the middle?Simon wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 5:26 pm OK so it looks like we've decided on the cheaper Weber Performer. Yup, you can get the sear grate but not the char-ring nor diffuser plate...unzippy wrote: Sun May 03, 2020 7:01 amThe bits that drop in the middle?Simon wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 5:26 pm OK so it looks like we've decided on the cheaper Weber Performer. For rotitsserie, you have a point. Otherwise it's lasted about 5 uses so far with no ill effects. Worth a punt at 1/3 the price of a Meater, maybe.unzippy wrote: Sun May 03, 2020 6:58 amIt's not wireless, the cables will get wrapped around the rotitsserieduncs500 wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 3:46 pmThat looks like ridiculously good value compared to igrill3 or Meater, what's the catch?JonMad wrote: Sat May 02, 2020 12:57 pm I got one of these recently and it's great.
