As stated - oil change is a 30min job. I have no idea how long it takes to remove the run-in rev-limiter, but I cant see that being an overly arduous job either.

I may have found how to change that in the manual

I've found a local Indy, but even they say that they only normally touch stuff outside of the warranty period. It's just one of those things I don't want to fuck about with.

I'm absolutely not considering doing it myself, getting some backstreet merchant to reset the mileage, and then having it done again at the dealer for the stamp.

I know this is no help, but I'd booked my first service on the RT before I even took delivery to avoid this kind of hassle - and there's loads of BMW dealers around. KTM are somewhat known for this.

I'd DIY frankly, keep the receipts for the history file then get it done when you can actually get it done. I suppose the rev limiter is the pisser though.

In other news, had new Pirelli Rosso Corsa IIs fitted to the 748 yesterday. New tyres are just *the best* thing.

Rode it to 2 Wheel Tuesday meet tonight, managed to get it scrubbed halfway down the writing on the edge, which was nice.





This bike still makes me sex wee everytime I look at it.

In other, other news, I let my girlfriend ride it Sunday. She's never ridden any bike bigger than her 125 so we found a bit of old airstrip locally and she did some practice moving it about, turning it around, getting used to the weight etc, and then I convinced her to have a go slowly. It was pretty cool.

I’ve ordered the bits and I’ve found how to raise the rev limiter. I plan on keeping this bike a long time and putting plenty of miles on it, so I don’t think it will affect the value all that much. I’m even using astonishingly expensive Motorex oil so they can’t complain about that.

The only bit I can’t do myself is reset the service indicator.

Tried this? For the Adventure 1290R but worth a crack.

In related news, the rev limiter and shift light resets itself at 620 miles (1000km) so I now have full revs.
