The sidewall starts looking like that Alpina on Harry's video. They're stunning, though I think they'd work better with Sapphire Black paintwork

Whilst I like the new wheels more it exaggerates the way it has less sidewall than the front and looks a bit weird.
Needs more meaty rear tyres.

I think the main issue with the overall look is the font arch gap which needs sorted. They look very good on black ones and also the dark racing green colour, but I do like how its turned out.

Ride quality is pleasantly good - pretty much as it was on the original wheels & tyres - perhaps you feel a tiny bit more through them, but I can't tell you how much more comfortable it is than the M2, so its all relative.

I got them from Inchcape BMW who were selling them at 68% off RRP. They had them lying around for a while, it was month-end and they wanted to get something back for them and free up some space. If it wasn't for the discount, I wouldn't have bought them, I just couldn't have justified them.

They're frozen gold and also felt lighter than the stock wheels. They've come on Yokohama tyres though so will see how they are.

@mik - I just ran out of time to get any decent pictures, today was crazy with work and then a really short time to get the wheels swapped. Of course, when I went to start, the jack wouldn't fit under the car, so it was one of those little jobs which went on and on...

That is epic.

I'm surprised to be saying this because I love the wheels, but on that comparison I think I prefer it bone-stock for some reason.

No, I totally get that. They're both very different looks I think - for some reason the current M3 shape and paints look drastically different depending on the alloy and paint combo, not to mention lighting.

I've worked something out with BMW so have said I'll keep the car and am not going to get the roof painted by them. It's now off to the detailers for PPF and ceramic coating, so I'll keep it black for the time being, no rush to change anything.

I really don't want anyone dicking around with the car just now. Like a few of you have said, having someone take apart the roof lining, rails off, all that stuff then colour matching etc.

So, Peter Vardy @scotta... who'd have thunk it?

Am I right in saying that these alloys are still staggered diameters, but an inch bigger at each end? (So 21" rears, 20" fronts?).

With your OEM 285/30/20 MPS4S rears I thought we were about to be identical rear tyre twins..... like Joey in Friends and whoever his identical hand twin was.

Yes that's right, so 21" rears, 20" fronts now.

We can still be identical rear tyre twins from November to April every year though? Can meet up and compare rear tyres over the winter?

I have reached an agreement with BMW so will be keeping the car and next time will listen to @scotta.

All I need now is to get the car back from the detailers, so have reverted back to watching videos of other people driving the car that I once had for 24 hours or so. Interesting that Mr Harris has also called out how comfortable it is in comfort setting as I was starting to wonder if it was just me.

@Ascender What you getting done? PPF or ceramic coat or some other?

The e92 M3 in comfort mode was more comfortable than the normal non-M models with M sport suspension. (Not that I ever left it in comfort!)

Ceramic coating and a PPF "track pack" as well as the back of the seats done.

Mike, not to induce any kind of paranoia, but I'd be mega concerned about someone breaking in for it! Big dog, large bollards and dominating the stairs required.

Best sit my wife down when she gets home and let her know that she's now the protector.

Picked the car up (again) a few days ago at which point it was incredibly shiny with its PPF and ceramic coating. 400 miles later and its a slightly different story as the weather has been a bit rainy. Starting to rack up the miles with a couple of road trips. Today was a magical mystery tour in to the borders and Dumfries & Galloway. Ignoring the sat nav we just alternately picked whether to go left/right or straight on at random points and ended up doing 250 or so miles and having an incredible lunch at The Gordon Arms Restaurant near Selkirk.

Loads of b roads today in really crappy weather too and it felt absolutely planted. Also feels like its capable of some really silly cornering speeds, but is still loads of fun at legal speeds.

I've swapped out the rear number plate for a shorter one. Not done the front yet as I'll need to buy a new plate holder or modify the one that's on there.

Am still kind of tempted to put small spacers on as the wheels look like they could be out a wee bit further - not sure if that will mess with how it drives and if I need to get alignment adjusted etc. Will wait until after the run-in service to see about that I think.

@scotta - Peter Vardy messed up again, albeit pretty minor. We have a road trip to the Highlands coming up so when I picked up the car I asked them to book it in for its run-in service the day before we leave. I phoned to confirm it and they have no record of it and couldn't fit me in until near the end of April.
