The ‘fog’ seems to be lifting a little the last day or so, so going to try work tomorrow and return to the office for the morning at least, then use the bank holiday to fully settle then back full time on Tuesday. Thanks again all, comments are good to read.

It's shitty indeed and you have my condolences.

Having had the news a few weeks ago from my father that the specialists can do no more for him (chirossis due to Alpha-1) and to get his affairs in order, it initially left me speechless (although after his hospital visit I kind of knew it was coming) then a few days of real ups and downs. From what he has said he would have chosen the way your father went. He was told he can expect a slow degradation into a state that will leave him in hospital losing a battle to something healthy people consider mundane. We're doing our best for him and he's still fairly active so hopefully sometime left.

Again my condolences but take solace that he went quickly with no suffering.
