It was quite a result. Lovely, lovely car. Shame I can’t fit behind the steering wheel (knees too close to the wheel).

Megane, on the other hand, whilst still not shabby with its Stage 1 remap (vs standard of 247bhp, 250 lb ft), it's now 22 bhp and about 15-20 lb ft down on where it was with the decat. Surprised it made that much difference but there you go.

I still have the decat downpipe (which also saved about 10+ kg) but it's lots of £££ labour to keep getting it taken in and out for the MOTs, so for now I'm leaving it like this. Still feels quick, anyway, but fewer pops and bangs. I think I'll get more track performance from some decent brake fluid than 20 extra horsepowers and torques.

Blue is before, pink is now.

Also, hot dog occurred (ok, for the kids - YK and I shared a bromantic pizza)

Then I took the kids to Screwfix Live. I know how to give them a good time!

Prob not worth changing it (cost) but I would expect you could get close to the decat numbers with a suitable (200-cell?) sports cat? Good results anyway. 8-)

Excellent numbers for the GT3 :geek: , and I didn’t think I was losing out in a straight line so reckon my estimate of 380-385 for mine can’t be far off.

I remember on a few occasions following you, and you caught me napping, I had to really work to gain ground (if that!) so yours must be really healthy also. I’m guessing yours must have a better torque figure with its supercharger.

One criticism on the GT3, and all modern Porsches, is the long gearing. Less of an issue on track or performance test, but on the road the gearing can mask its acceleration unless the driver is fully committed.

It’s a chore to rev above 8k

I might have had the wheel adjusted closer to the driver when you tried it.

The wheel can be adjusted for reach, so along with some lowering brackets for the seat, I think you’ll fit fine. :)

Failing that, fit the smaller 996 Momo Porsche Cup steering wheel like the one in SJ’s car.

Coaster1 wrote: Sat Sep 29, 2018 5:34 pm I've mentioned elsewhere before, when I was researching 996 GT3 Mk1 vs Mk2, various reports suggested that most Mk1s would not achieve the manufacture claimed figure of 355bhp, whereas Mk2s would routinely overachieve (375 bhp & 284 lb/ft)

Charlie at SRR, said that he's had many 996 GT3s on his roller; in fact, 911uk held a GT3 dyno day at SRR in 2015, and on the day they had one Mk1 (357bhp) and four Mk2s (390-399bhp).

So, armed with 2/3 Esso and 1/3 VPower, my car went on the roller......

403.3 bhp & 314 lb/ft :o 8-) :P

Torque curve a bit funky  but Charlie said everything looked good.

Anyway, nice to catch up with Jon (+2) and good seeing SJ's beautiful Vantage, which is VERY loud with fuse 22 removed :o
8-) Can't wait for a pride in this beast!

Makes my 414bhp from 4 litres look lazy! I’d be very happy to have a car that delivered so much over it’s quoted numbers!

I can appreciate this. I won't miss the hassle of having to take the Subaru to a place 2 hours away that had an understanding with an MOT station every year.
Since it had been mapped specifically with 99 unleaded with a fully decatted wider bore exhaust to get the 360+ bhp I didn't really have any option other than to put up with the hassle

Just removing and reinstalling the chav lights I have in the Toyota and both bikes is enough of a pain in the arse for me.

Different wheel, maybe different seat mounts and you’ll be fine. I fit in mine OK now.

Now thinking that this might be a good option with a one time cost associated with it (+ another £40 to get another dyno done!). A reasonable compromise between performance and expense, also reducing the back pressure on the turbo (Ecotune said the Stage 1 map I have is fine with the cat back on but this could only help, I'd have thought).

Yeah, the annoying thing is I was counting on finding a friendly MOT place, then resigned myself to putting the std cat back in for the MOT only a couple of months ago. Didn't think of this option as worth the cost (for some reason iirc I thought a sports cat was £600 ish - the irony being the extra labour I'd now incur means the amount spent is more that if it were £600 and I changed the pipe over once only).
