Two cool things I’ve learnt:
There are no belts or chains in the engine, *everything* is gear driven.
The brake calipers are supposedly the same as a Gallardo. Dunno if it’s entirely true but they’re huge 6-pot Brembos on 350mm discs.
My opinion will change once the bills start racking up but for now I’m enjoying the absurdity of it all.

I've read that article before. Scary proposition, but hopefully that's not every owner's experience.
Cudos on going the less obvious route.

It’s an engine and gearbox out job for the high pressure fuel pump on a 3.0 v6 tdi Q7 too. Not cheap.

Brave man there. I read an article on the Audi S4 (4.2 V8 engined one) on Jalopnik and it was enough to put me off buying one especially when I saw a number of vehicles for sale that had the timing chains replaced at huge cost.
Carl.

Hopefully it’s just the usual internet scaremongering, as ever you never hear about the 100’s of happy owners who have done 100k faultless miles.

If you google hard enough you'll find horror stories about every car. Jack Wood on Twitter had endless problems with His Golf R. In 2.5 years mines hasnt needed anything mechanically bar servicing & Tires...Im glossing over the fact i cracked the sump as that was user error.

The difference is there's only about a 1000 or so V10 TDis on the road according to howmanyleft. I suspect the UK stories you hear of problems form a much larger percentage of total ownership than, say, a Golf R.
That said I really hope it doesn't give you any grief at all. Looking forward to hearing tales of towing Airbus' around Gatwick when all the tugs are broken.
