The SC's are quite a bit more expensive, so that lesser demand is largely reflected in the price.

yeah, they’re usually £8-10k more.

There was a Jayemm video about the 190 (elise) that i was referred to during my search which did put me off the 190 engine.

The car drives superb, has 88k miles, full service history, Apple CarPlay and I have replaced the steering rack motor. Looking for £9,000 located in Whitby in the North East.

E89 (metal roof Z4), N54 six pot Ttrbo (not as reliable as N55/B58 but still pretty reliable compared to Elises/caterhams etc - it's a 'will start on a cold wet morning' car 99.9% of the time), DCT box is considered to be OK AFAIK, you'll probably fit in it, easy to get in and out of, pretty fucking quick, can be parked on the street, will do 400 miles in one hit without complaining, etc. You can spend a little more for lower mileage if you want, not that that matters much on these cars at this age, really, beyond the usual modern car toot (chain guides etc will want attention just due to age I'd expect)

Not a £25k car, but maybe worth considering E89 35i's and putting the other £15k away for a rainy day/bolting on bigger turbos and a remap. I hadn't realised they'd got so relatively cheap.

Edit: that one specifically is in whitby, so pretty local
