I’ve been awake since 4:55. My bleary eyes read that as Richard Madeley.

That comment will provoke a clear split between Bond the angry misogynist fans and Bond the geriatric superhero fans

Roger Moore dodged those bullets by being awesome, rained killer, ladies man and suave.

It doesn’t matter what race bond is, but everything about him needs to be distinctly average. Average height, average build, no strange hairstyles or beards- there needs to be nothing memorable about a bond and he needs to be someone you could walk past in the street, anywhere in the world.

Idris Elba would be out on that criteria based on his voice- too unique and distinctive, but not to say bond couldn’t be black. A black bond would have advantages in Africa, a white bond in Alabama, etc so the story needs to allow for that too, no use dumping a white secret agent in Sierra Leone for example, or sending a black bond to kkk rally- and neither would do very well in North Korea

Yeah, I don't like Elba for the role either, his missing the charm / charisma to pull it off IMO.

They need to make an Iris Elba, Keanu Reeves Cyberpunk movie. The only thing I’ve really liked Elba in was the game.
Not Bond though.

I didn’t know he was in cyberpunk, was that the dlc?

But yes, I would 100% watch that.

This is exactly where they’ve been going wrong recently imo. Trying to crowbar the latest popular good actor into the bad guy role. They failed miserably with Christopher Waltz and Remi Malik.

write the film, then cast the best actor to play the role that’s written. Not the other way round.

Zed’s doesn’t know what to think about this…

Writing a character, who is a villain, with dwarfism - shameful.

Casting an Actor with dwarfism in a major role in popular franchise - inspired

(Only kidding :D )

Isn't this literally just members of the public putting bets on, and betting shops (or sites, whatever) giving odds?

Subsequently being touted by a low information idiot farm - ladbible - to generate clicks?

i’m not verifying the truth, just commenting on the idea.

I would argue that Timothy Dalton was more book accurate, not just on hair colour. DC was a great Bond and I lobed Moore as he was "my" Bond growing up when I had never read the books.

I agree about shoehorning well known actors into any Bond role, whether as Bond or the Villian etc. The joys of Bond films was having total unknowns as main characters. Or it was for many, anyway.

I absolutely Loved Bond growing up, read all the books, read the behind teh scene books etc, and DC in Casiono Royale was astoundingly book accurate, even the ball mashing scene, albeit I think it was carpet beater v knotted rope.

I found the whole DC arc a bit much and like others have said, the film very much depended on scripts to be great, not cast.

Maybe they should have just let the franchise die, far too many are getting strectched ever closer or past breaking point, Jurrasic Park/World possibly.
