FIXED!!!! I am an IT genius (I was told to switch PoE Binding on and off on the ports that weren't working - this is pretty much the equivalent of switching it on and off again at the plug

)
This reminds me of that top gear episode where Clarkson changed on a bulb on his 944 and then believed he could fix anything

Well done mate... it's a great feeling fixing something you have no place fixing...
Having said that, given the cost of lawyers time, it probably would have been cheaper to buy a new house with a working CCTV set-up...

Small bump, I've finally got around to getting the reolink cams. One doorbell cam to replace the Ring (which has been pretty feckless lately) and an indoor camera to point at the car from the office window.
Decent image quality, some mildly esoteric setup and I expect I'll have to tweek the settings a bit, but the image quality is bob on. Got it angled so I can see number plates on cars passing in both lanes, all very legible in the daylight, won't know what it's like at night till, er, tonight.

I wish I'd bought two Seagate Ironwolf 8TB drives when I paid £240 for one a few weeks ago. Now can't find the same thing for less than nearly £280. FFS. I am going to get a 4TB one to go with it I think, which is £169 but keeps wobbling down below £150. In my basket awaiting notification of the price dropping.

My new ones have audio as well so now I have to remember not to say anything I don't want my wife to hear as she has the app on her phone

Bitch I do that shit naked, the neighbours love it. The police, less so.
And yeah, the camera aimed at the car is in my office.
*turns off microphone*
Thaaaats better....
I've also just dumped the thick end of £500 into Ubiquity gear because I'm positive Synology are just letting their network stuff die out, and their mesh stuff isn't as flexible as I'd like/need (poor VLAN handling etc) - so a UDR7, U7 Pro and a PoE injector it is I guess. Ubuiqity are at least adding things like 2.5gb networking to their more mainline stuff. My Synology router has a 2.5gb WAN port and 1gb LAN ports, which is fuuuuuucking uuuuuuuseless.
