I've cut out loads of games this year (Quordle, Octordle, the other one I forgot the name of), so it is now a 55/55 split (see @mik I'm giving 110% too!) between Wordle and Wordiply.

I haven't played RDR or RDR2 but I always assume it's like GTA crossed with this:
Ex used to say I was just watching a horse's arse all evening when I was playing RDR.

Speaking of BeamNG, they've just done an update and refreshed the lorries, sure whatever, but in the career mode preview, they've added what's effectively a full insurance simulator.

https://www.beamng.com/game/news/patch/ ... ive-v0-31/

It includes a 'policy score' (aka NCB) and you can opt to repair your car outside of insurance, if your NCB is impacted you have to earn more by doing more jobs to pay the premium.

Absolutely bonkers. Gran Turismo? The 'Real Driving Simulator'? Get out of town, this is the sort of boring crushing reality I want

Thanks DJ, this was my point  I don't tend to game that much these days, but this year I did far more than usual thanks to BG3, hence the number. Might have been too subtle.

I shall endeavour to lobby the dev team to include locking wheelnuts.

Finishing off the year with Far Cry 6 on Gamepass, well I would if it weren’t so bad. The mechanics of the game just don’t work, stealth doesn’t work, and going guns blazing is also annoying as the game has infinite spawning air support. I find the shooting inconsistent too with headshots usually being 1 shot kills but other times not which kills the stealth aspect. The fecking special weapons are all shite too.

Having finally knocked Alien Isolation and Space Marine off the pile of shame I've now spent some time with GTA V. It's quite a thing isn't it 8-)

Minigun reefer madness if my favourite mission so far.

Unforgiving RNJ of the racing missions very nearly made me rage quit.

I've been playing Dave the Diver on Steam whilst also picking up Cyberpunk and Alan Wake II which were both in the end of year Xbox sale.

Ten years of Elite Dangerous.

It continues to sink its claws deep into my brain, despite extended time away from the premier space screenshot simulator with GTA-V and BG3 I'm thoroughly back into Elite again now that the alien Thargoid invasion is coming to an end(?)

A lot less Fortnite in 2024, probably because Jnrs spent a lot more time in it.

Baldurs Gate 3 was incredible but almost too good, I put in 160 hours in my first playthrough and felt close to being sick of it in parts weirdly enough.

I did not get a happy ending so I'll backtrack a bit and play for a better end. As for replaying the whole thing with a new character..... maybe in a few years. Or if there's ever DLC (which Larian have said there will not be).

I've not touch Elite for many years - it just never grabbed me, and they seemed to abandon it after the last big expansion, I kinda expected them to announce a new game. I always felt like Star Citizen was the game Elite was meant to be for "next gen" - but that's still a clunky, bloated mess.

I've still got a big back catalogue of games I'm still yet to play, and can recently add Indian Jones to that, which is getting stellar reviews. Pretty much the only thing I'm coming back to at the moment is Helldivers 2, which is probably my GOTY 2024. Easy to drop in for 20 mins here and there, and just a laugh to play....especially loving the community around it and the "Managed Democracy"

I've played quite a bit of GTA online this year, not sure how, easy to just pick up and play I suppose, new expansion was a bit dull mind.

Forza Motorsport is a disappointment, I've tried to get into it but it's just not got enough going on, handling model feels better than GT7 through a wheel, but the actual game is a bit meh.

Looking forward to the new Assetto Corsa coming out next year, we've probably played BeamNG more than Forza this year tbh.

Might buy a PS5 for Astro Bot if there's any deals in the Jan sales as it looks quite fun.

Built a new PC this year and apart from a bit of Forza Horizon 4, Lonely Mountains: Downhill (highly recommended btw) and Twilight Struggle matches it's not had much use

Tetris 99 on the Switch is my default 5 min time-waster. Still yet to win a game, a few 3rd and 4ths are the closest so far.

Still working on the PS4 backlog, currently on God of War and enjoying that a lot.

Waiting to see if there's a xbox vs PS consensus with my kids and their mates before committing to a new console. I canned my PS Plus subscription and I'm not too fussed which way we go.

Balatro man, it’s consumed my year.

Had a pretty good time catchingup with FF7 Remake until I didn’t.

I've finally got the Xbox connected up and have downloaded the new Indy game along with playing some Call of Duty this week. I've got so many games sitting unplayed that I'm spoiled for choice. Indy then Cyberpunk I think.

Have hardly touched the PS5 - have the Spiderman games to do and Shadow of the Colossus to finish.

I've not looked at what games I can get for the PC I bought for work. At the moment the convenience of the xbox wins out every time.
