The ongoing X5 saga
Re: What Car.
Formal complaint raised with BMW - now assigned to a handler and response within 2 working days.
Re: What Car.
Indeed!
Re: What Car.
Still awaiting official response from BMW. However its booked in to Peter Vardy for Wednesday so i took it down there today at lunchtime and took one of their technicians out in the car. He has confirmed that there is an actual issue that is not a characteristic of the vehicle - No Shit - Fed this back to BMW and awaiting a response.
Re: The ongoing X5 saga
car dropped off...and now we wait...
Re: The ongoing X5 saga
seems to be no sounds when ive linked that.
Verdict is that it needs the wheels replaced at £3500 and there's an advisory on the front lower suspension arm bushes - slight play. £1200 for those.
Report sent back to BMW. Response promised by Friday on next steps.

Is that all the wheels? Did they actually try a different set?
Re: The ongoing X5 saga
All 4 yes. Arnold Clark have allegedly twice...Peter Vardy say all 4 are scrap. Theres about a million weights on them which is in that video. Try that link.Jobbo wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 9:49 am Is that all the wheels? Did they actually try a different set?

They've doubled the unsprung mass!
Re: The ongoing X5 saga
I'm just a bumpkin, but even I'd look at the amount of weights there and wonder what the fuck is wrong with a wheel that needs that much correction...!scotta wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 10:05 amAll 4 yes. Re: The ongoing X5 saga
That’s weird that it’s on all 4 wheels. Chocolate wheels or was Ken Block the previous owner?
How about not having a sig at all?
Re: The ongoing X5 saga
I think they've fucked them when they've been refurbished. Baked too hot or too long. Or maybe cooled too quickly.Mito Man wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 10:31 am That’s weird that it’s on all 4 wheels. Chocolate wheels or was Ken Block the previous owner?

Will you take it back if they fork out for all the work? Or have you lost the joy/faith with it?

Ive got it back. I now need to wait for the decision from BMW as to what happens next.DeskJockey wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 11:29 am Will you take it back if they fork out for all the work? Or have you lost the joy/faith with it?
Re: The ongoing X5 saga
It looks like it's had a set of tyres and when they balanced them they'd left the old weights on (or some other such ineptitude).
Re: The ongoing X5 saga
Peel all those weights off, scratch “///M” into the upper surface of each, and I reckon you could sell them via eBay for a total of (up to)

Re: The ongoing X5 saga
BMW (Arnold Clark) re-balanced them to fix the vibration...nuttinnew wrote: Thu Apr 27, 2023 11:51 am It looks like it's had a set of tyres and when they balanced them they'd left the old weights on (or some other such ineptitude).

You can balance a wheel on the machine 'til the cows come home, but if it's not circular it'll never drive right. You could balance an egg.
