Yeah, smashed a biker up pretty bad IIRC? I just think do it on a race track these days. I remember driving very quickly once and finding a woman on a horse on a blind bend. Luckily nothing happened. It made me a better driver.
I was at the Elvington one, though was too inexperienced to try the track as young 'un.
Im pretty much the same these days. With the cornering forces that the lotus can pull there is no way i would push it that hard on the road. Also i know that if im on the lock stops round a corner on track there isn't a tractor coming the other way!
IMO it's perfectly possible to drive in a way that you can have a spirited drive but be prepared for any eventuality and be able to stop. I've been on plenty of meets and trips without incident. I can imagine there was a bit more youthful exuberance in the early days mind you.
Yep likewise. I was referring to the screeching tyres and mental overtakes! I keep that for the track these days. A spirited drive round the country roads is perfectly fine.

I did my first track day at a Toyota owners Club day in Lincs with you Jon. Possibly Binbrook?
I used to love Binbrook. There used to be a section on the circuit called the donuts which was a circular route around (I think) the old aircraft hard standings. In those days the organisers used to positively encourage you to get as sideways as possible. Great fun in my old mk1 Escort.

Is that Mr Ritchie's Williams at the back right of shot?
I wonder whatever happened to him - had a few cracking trackdays/evenings with him. Total loon!
Can't remember his name - went by the forum name "BigWillyOwner" or something like that.

Nov 2000, Snitz forum. My early introduction to internet forums, and I chose this place. Doomed from the start.
MarkR was my first introduction to trackdays, I passengered his Clio round Oulton Park. Quite the intro that was, he found that it was three-wheeling through cascades, but rather than slow down like any sensible person we pulled into the pits, he promptly yanks the plastic arch liners out and jumps back in.. no more rubbing

Blimey, it’s over 20 years now for quite a lot of us
I joined Scoobynet first but it was regularly invaded by Evo forum members when Snitz went down; once I worked out that it wasn’t Mitsubishis I joined here instead.

I was on Scoobynet first too.
Can’t remember when I joined evo, but whilst it was pretty soon after, I lurked for ages after joining as my younglings were freshly hatched and not only was I not driving anything fabulous (I had a ZX Volcane, but in TD form for the commute, and the clique were pretty anti-diseasel at the time), I also had zero time of my own to meet up, zero cash to dabble with track days or pretty much any other shizzle, and I couldn’t envisage when that situation might ever change....

I'm trying to remember too - I was gonna say 2000 but Baz was on there before me and possibly Beany too so that might make it 2001... Either way basically half my life and genuinely some of my closer lifelong friends.
