It’s perfect!
It's a Porsche but it doesn't have a flat-6 :(
Neither did the 908 or 917...
Nor the 914, 924, 928... would you have any of them over a 911?

Not those three (if I could only have either / or). I would be tempted by Count Rossi's road going 917, though :D

918 for me. It’s the only one you could use reliably for big trips and track days without endless debilitating stress. Plus top exit exhausts are the business

GG. wrote: Mon May 18, 2020 12:35 am Yes, well - this really isn't all that difficult is it.

GT1 - 'period race car'. Will be over stiff, laggy, not all that fast by today's super/hypercar standards and deafening on the road. Have you not seen Tiff pogo it round a circuit in period?

918 - Overweight. Flappy paddle hybrid nonsense. Appeal largely limited to being the newest and fastest. Will avoid ad hominems as to who those charateristics may appeal for the sake of a certain Kiwi owner of this parish.

959 - Roly poly and heavy. Add turbo lag and the appearance of a melted 80s 911. Technical tour du force of a looong bygone era. Only 80s nostalgia-festishists need apply. Double denim and Cindy Crawford poster folded in the glovebox.

Carrera GT - lighter than all but the stripped out GT1. Best sound by a country mile. Manual gearbox. V10. Whose silly poll was this again?
Pretty much spot on. I’ll add:

I reckon the GT1 road car would still be the fastest on track out of the four cars.

918 looks superb in the fresh, love the top exhaust exits. I’ll have mine in Guards Red please.

959, my childhood Supercar of choice, before switching side to F40. A 993 turbo would offer similar driving experience for a fraction of the price. Probably.

CGT, wasn’t that keen on its look when it first came out. Grew to respect it and then love it. Gets my vote.

Similar journey. Was pretty meh about them at launch. Started to like them and the looks grew on me. Evo reported their spikey handling was tamed by modern tyres - and the inate balance was good. Switch flicked. Deep desire.

Yeah, at least until you clocked the sidewalls on that Guards Red 918 above that is.

Can we have a CGT drivetrain in a 918 body please?
