Ooh, I had that exactly picture, but in a frame, along with another Porsche one.

Jobbo - Pixies fan ??
One of my biggest regrets in life is I had tickets for their Dublin show when they were touring Trompe le Mond bought months in advance but then, a major stat exam was scheduled for the day after. folks made me sell the ticket.
I've never saw them live in their heyday
Just looked at your pic again - it was that Point Depot gig. June 19th 1991...

I only owned the poster; I never saw them live, Dinny. My 6th form common room basically had Surfer Rosa, Come On Pilgrim and Doolittle on repeat (along with Depeche Mode's Violator) so I became a bit of a fan then.

Saw them twice live (back in the day) - Glasgow Uni and Crystal Palace outdoors. Epic

Surfer Rosa
Bet that one went down well with School authorities...
I still listen to Come On Pilgrim at least once a fortnight - I've said it before on here - it that album was release today as a new piece of work by an unknown band, Muso journalists would be all over it hailing them as the next big thing...

Yeah, looking back on it the lyrics weren't exactly appropriate for a school; I don't remember any complaints but it wasn't my tape or stereo so who knows?

I still listen to their early stuff pretty regularly (probably not every 2 weeks). And Gouge Away is a more common go-to track - so simple but so musical.

you're not wrong...
"There was this boy who had two
Children with his sisters
They were his daughters
They were his favorite lovers"

I haven't listened to it for a while now, just remembering favourite lyrics... I've got to put it on when I'm in the car now! Black Francis' cadence is just superb. I love how he sings this, much more acceptable, lyric from I've Been Tired.
I said "I wanna be a singer like Lou Reed"
"I like Lou Reed" she said sticking her tongue in my ear

Since you are asking

I just checked - the Glasgow gig was 31 years ago yesterday.
It was at the QM union and I was right at the front of the mosh pit - mainly shouting at Kim. Donât think Doolittle was even released then so it was all early stuff - sound was great. My mate lost a shoe in the mosh pit and I remember spotting it, fighting my way to the floor (not easy in the squash) and holding it victoriously in the air once found.
Crystal Palace a couple of years later wasnât as intimate, and I can still recall it was quite windy and the treble kept dimming and peaking as the air moved around. Bass less affected.

I was mainly listening to Pixies and Dead Kennedy's around that time ( I was an angry young man) so my folks had serious concerns about my musical choices. "Kill the Poor" and "I kill children" of Fresh Fruit... stood out.
However, what concerned them the most was by eternal Love Affair with "The Doors" - in the mid 80's they were still seen as a very subversive band in backward old Ireland and a kid who likes the Doors is two steps away from a commune in Southern California with a wife called Moondrop...

It was a long time ago. Maybe a 930 Turbo or a 964?

Ireland was/is (delete as appropriate) a backward hole back when I was a kid. I remember in the early 80âs some Doors graffiti appeared on a road sign near the park.
As a group of Kids, we wondered at the fact that âSomeone who likes the Doors had been to our neighbourhoodâ
It was talked about for weeks
