Apparently, E10 fuel killed the primary fuel pump on the Red Bulls 😱

yeah, though apparently they didn't do any long runs or low fuel runs...

But it’s the same fuel pump as in every other car. Me thinks it’s some monkey jizz rocket additive that must have killed it.

But the fuel pumps are a part supplied by the FIA and only Red Bulls failed, methinks someone’s been taking a leaf out of Ferraris book…

All teams were invited to inspect it under Parc Ferme, and some changed it.

It’s a standardised part, wonder why redbull were so heavily shafted by it

Apparently redbull inspected but didn’t replace

I wouldn't want to be the person who did the inspection now!

Makes you wonder if it’s a pick-up issue- given how late in the race it happened. The pumps are standard but the collectors aren’t

This is turning out to be one heck of a shit show isn’t it - so far it seems like the drivers really don’t want to be there but the FIA are saying it’s safe as the Saudi authorities say that the terrorists are only going to attack their infrastructure. Hardly reassuring.
Saudi is also sort of forcing the drivers to race because even if they don’t they won’t be able to leave the country on any earlier flights.

You just follow the money to a third world dictator shithole and you get what you deserve in that regard - although I feel bad for the drivers and mechanics who have no say in this.

I do hope that the massive black plumes of acrid smoke remain in the background for qualifying and the race. Will really highlight how that E10 blend F1 is using is saving the planet…

That was some shunt Mick took.

Can't figure out what happened to Hamilton. Hoping for something spectacular from him in the race tomorrow.

Very puzzling really - unless there was some setup issue that someone can point a finger to it’s not really clear why he would be so far off the pace. Tyres contributed a bit maybe but not 8 10ths.

Could be a career defining moment - ie end of…

Interesting the guys used to driving a turd of a car are flying these days!

LH said they took the wrong direction on set up, I suspect they gambled on a change to help unlock some more performance from the car and it had the opposite effect. Whereas they probably played it safe with GR's.

Sounds like they set his car up for FP3 and then added even more to it before the race - and as we know FP3 was in the baking hot sun.

I’ll be watching intently to see how Red Bull hobble Perez this race.

I wonder if the team meetings are all geared towards how Perez can get Max into the lead, or whether they at least pretend Perez is going to be given a shot at going out there to win?
