Here's an excellent article I read about the 17 minutes between the first and second planes striking the World Trade Centre. The forgotten period where we didn't yet understand what was happening and what would be the consequences.

Trump
Re: Trump
I have a collection of papers from the days after the attacks and it's been interesting reminding myself of the initial response.
History tends to get written and re-written and like Jobbo's article (Brilliant by the way), we know 9/11 by our accumulated knowledge now. But in the immediate aftermath, things were very different.

Using the latest U.S. Census estimates, there were about 269.2 million adults (18+) in the United States as of July 2025.
So:
269.2 million adults × $5,000
= $1.346 trillion

Probably how the previous generation felt about the Kennedy assassination (in that they lived it, but millions of younger people just learned it)

I've no idea how far they went, this was from the Minnesota childcare's and food programs which turned out to be single offices or empty buildings claiming thousands of kids were being fed per day. $300 million from just one group supposedly.Sundayjumper wrote: Fri Sep 11, 2026 11:10 amThis guy ?V8Granite wrote: Thu Sep 10, 2026 8:31 am They could re-direct all the childcare money that was being scammed and probably pay double that!
