Disposable vapes can get to fuck too. An astonishing waste of resources.
Agreed. Every cell in those is rechargable, the device just doesn't have a charging port on it. Fucking astonishing that it's been allowed to go on this long.

Isn't this 'escalating smoking age' thing what New Zealand are already doing?
yep, it's not a brand new idea.
It's not only new ideas that are shit.
I see the detail is now on the .gov.uk site: "Proposed new legislation will make it an offence for anyone born on or after 1 January 2009 to be sold tobacco products". So they're banning people currently aged 14 from buying cigarettes. It'll be 4 years before it has any effect
And I would reiterate my earlier concern - in 2040 are retailers seriously going to be checking age ID of 30-somethings before selling them a pack of Marlboro Lights?

I think it would be nice if they just enforce the laws we do have before thinking about anything else. I know I know - its a novel and radical idea.
Same goes for infrastructure...

Those other things cost money, this is as close to an easy win freebie as you get in politics.

Hear hear, as you used to hear in the commons when MPs actually bothered to debate stuff properly.

Labour need to tread very carefully in their response, both at the leadership level and the rank and file, to the Hamas attacks. Starmer has been pretty firm on the subject but dithering a little on the fringes...
He's going to have some really hard decisions to make if Labour members and candidates come out in support of Hamas.

Said this on PH this morning. Not supporting the government of Israel isn't showing a lack of care for the people of Israel, showing care for the people of Palestine is not de facto support of hamas.

That may be the truth but it won't be the way it's spun by the right.
This is what I mean about treading very carefully to get the balance or else they'll end up shooting themselves in the foot. The Right will smell blood in the water and push him for comments against the action, against Hamas , against Palestine even in the house and if he gets the wrong tone, they could be in trouble

Maybe we as a country shouldn't let the right wing press dictate the discourse like that then, just a thought.

Come on, you know that swings both ways. Left wing press making capital out of events to kick the government
But I wasn’t talking about the press. I’m talking about the house, speaker’s question time etc

I'm not getting into a pissing contest.
The press holding the government to account is one thing.
The press using a terrible event to push domestic anti semitism conspiracies is quite another.

Neither am I…
But how about the press using terrible events with migrant boats and drownings in the channel to push government racism conspiracies???
Anyway, I’m not having a go at Labour. Just suggesting they may have a though week or two

If the press were pro-Israel they would refer to Hamas as terrorists, not militants.

It's conference week, they'll have a tough week anyway. People will be trying to figure out if the wet wipe in charge will actually make a point.

The pro-Hamas celebrations under the guise of Palestinian support.

You really think that justifies Braverman's Enoch Powell impression?
I thought it was just some old school Sales trolling
