Everything seems to be just so extreme these days. It's not Tory V Labour, Conservative V Socialist anymore. It's Racist, Thieving, Liar Vs Leftie Workshy Commie!!! Gammon Vs Remoaner

We're so focused on our differences, I can't see a way back if I'm honest.
The problem with discussing politics at the moment is that so much of what the government has done over the last decade has been actively harmful to people and the rhetoric coming from them now suggests they've got worse to come.

I'm not sure I can find common ground with anyone that supports them.

The problem is that with effectively only two parties and FPtP, they keep having to bend to accommodate fringe elements thus amplifying the effect and those voices. That's how the ERG became so powerful and why Con lurched right to avoid the kippers stealing voters.

If you had more parties that could win seats there'd be less extremes in the larger parties and while some of the smaller parties would gain seats, they would be less able to become kingmakers (although it isn't a guarantee obviously).

If the fringe is more exposed and less in the mainstream it should dampen the extremes as the others can be clearer about their messaging and also clearly distance themselves.

That's my point Zed...

@Carlos - it is a social media thing but vast swathes of the electorate live on social media and that proportion is only going to get bigger, exacerbating the issue. The form their opinions by what they read online and not by Face to Face.

I bet of me and Zed sat down over a pint, we could easily see more of each others "Side" but for now, he's leftie commie, militant union loving workshy cvnt... ;) :D

Like, I’m sure outside of politics most people are decent but I wouldn’t trust anyone who would consider voting for the tories as they are just now.

Except the majority of the tory party, I can't see any of them being decent outside of politics.

Surely one or both of them are going to take a run at triggering a leadership election.

Bloody hell, never mind calling Zelenskyy or heading to Ukraine, he's gonna have to release a sex tape with him to distract from this one.

Managed to catch the news tho - Rishi has been doing a terrible job, his replacement I like. Good move.

The media might get their own way one day getting rid of Boz - wont be today tho or this week or month.

I listened to Times Radio on the journey to work today. Interviews with Nadhim Zahawi, then William Hague, Michael Portillo and a few others. It was amazing how people talked as if he was already leaving. Other than Zahawi, who seems to have made a bit of a misstep taking the job of chancellor. Shortest ever tenure as chancellor?

My current prediction is Boris to resign later today.
