Someone on the track prep team would've got a slap on the wrist for that. They must've messed something up for both cars to blow the tyres off like that. Nice driving for no one to hit anything though, must've been their most exciting 6 second passes ever

Re: Randomness
What I loved about that dragster footage is at the end, there's a shot from a helicopter (or drone)
I've never seen that angle before, and it gives a great sense of the speed/acceleration
I tried to find more such footage of a proper run, but haven't turned anything up yet

Yeah, it really shows how the guy in the right lane hit 217 by the end when the other guy was only doing 170ish.

The tyre deformation when they floor the accelerator is just mindbogglingly crazy. Yes I know they're fat soft tyres but still.
Reminded me of a video I saw where they did a slo-mo of the tyre from the side. On launch the inner part turned something like a quarter turn before the outer caught up and started rotating. The forces involved are silly!

This ties in with the weather and boot stripe threads nicely;

That seems like a lot of work when you could just disconnect the doorbell.

Is that a brick, or a smaller version of @Rich B ’s roofbox?

As long as you don't get reverse inspiration. Not advisable to try to see what torsional force you can withstand

How many months would it take you to do that?Beany wrote: Thu Sep 09, 2021 8:55 am That seems like a lot of work when you could just disconnect the doorbell.
Yes, dashcam footage, but this clip's quite balletic;
