Oh FFS. I just typed a long reply about my experience with JLR products and the forum signed me out when I pressed submit and it’s all gone.

In short - looks good, nice materials, good ride, bad seats, UI annoying, minor niggles, constant fear of catastrophic engine failure.

Because of that fear I bought a BMW that immediately needed 100+ hours of work on the engine. Maybe don’t trust my judgement on this 🤣

Maurice still had his almost-the-same-car-in-different-dress <deep breath> Range Rover Velar P550 SV Autobiography last time I spoke to him. I think Velar has air springs instead of steel - can't fully recall. If you are interested I could prod him for insights?

Is the 2.0 diesel the worst offender, or does it apply to the v6 and v8 engines too?

I ask as a neighbour had a new e pace destroy itself within a few months and while waiting for a fix, the replacement e pace also imploded.

I struggled to fit in YK's at Bedford when he kindly, as ever, let me have a drive. That was with a helmet though, but you're a tall chap as well iirc so watch out for that.

Ah, same engine as the SVR? Interesting. Makes sense, I guess. Yeah, be good to hear how it's gone. It's only theoretical at the moment, and something more chunky than the Yeti is definitely a 'want' rather than a 'need'.

I think it's just the 2.0d that's the bad one - some plastic pipe and water pump issues on the V6/V8. Not sure about the I6 that's on the facelift. Jobbo's shared a link on the prev page.

Looking at this older one now. Mrs Mad has said she won't have a green car (harder to see, etc), but I guess it could be wrapped :)

MOT history is bang on - regular miles, no advisories other than tyres one year

I meant the TDV6 / SDV6, sorry, my disappeared post was a lot clearer ! Basically it was never designed to power a 2.5 tonne brick that’s also quite likely to do towing, so it’s right on its limit. Broken cranks (fully destroyed engine) & cracked inlet manifolds (can be replaced but quite a lot of labour £££s) are far more common than they ought to be. The same engine in the XF has an easier life and is far more reliable.

SDV8 in my RR seemed nice enough.

Don't spend money on getting it wrapped

Have you looked at a Porsche Macan, as a very direct comptetitor to the F-Type?

Mrs Mad doesn't like the Porsche badge. Or Mercedes. Or Audi. Or any BMW. She liked the Aston DBX that went past us on the M40 though, so that's alright then

I'm surprised at that, I put Corrado seats in my Mk2 Golfs and had no prolems as the adjustment went so low.

A white Corrado VR6 popped up the other day. Rang and it was some sort of fake listing, taken down now, too good to be true :(

Have you tried joining the the Facebook group and putting up a wanted advert?

any 6 or 8 cylinder petrol options there? (and newer than 2015 as I won't get away with buying a new car that's older than a current one, because  )
