Skylines are like that. They don't like sitting. If I do get a 911 next, I'm getting a cheap, high miler that's been looked after and to hell with the value, just so I can use it as a daily.Carlos wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 10:05 amWhen I was using mine every day it was faultless but within a couple of months of it being a second car parked up or garaged for weeks before runs it started to deteriorate and jobs mounted up.NotoriousREV wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:42 amI don't think they're that bad. I think the problem is that people treat them like VWs and don't keep on top of stuff, leaving large bills to the next owner, but once you fix things they tend to stay fixed. The 996 is a 15 - 20 year old car now so it's going to take some fettling, but the values are rock solid.Broccers wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:20 am
Not that great a car then? Shame they all seem to be wallet drainers one way or another.
Do you pour £300 a month into a Golf R you have to hand back but won't cause you any running issues, or do you pour it into something that probably won't depreciate and may appreciate if you keep it in good condition and keep hold of it for long enough?
I think Broccers is as misunderstood as I am
What’s next Foz?
I definitely subscribe to this view - it's all very well tinkering when you have time (I ran 4 older cars when I worked from home) but when you just want to make sure you get to the station on time each day it's not character, it's hassle.Broccers wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:56 amIts an interesting question. I spent a lot on my m coupe at the time so have experience of both. I'd rather have something to jump into that gives me no grief to be honest - plus modern cars do things so well / better with tech you can't compare the two really and they are as quick / quicker.NotoriousREV wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:42 am Do you pour £300 a month into a Golf R you have to hand back but won't cause you any running issues, or do you pour it into something that probably won't depreciate and may appreciate if you keep it in good condition and keep hold of it for long enough?
How many miles did you do in the Coupe though ?Broccers wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:56 amIts an interesting question. I spent a lot on my m coupe at the time so have experience of both. I find it strange that people don’t do many miles in their fun cars, what’s the point if you don’t use them. People seem to want to watch telly more than drive their cars.
Dave!
That’s a lot more than I remember, I can’t see how that would ever prove dull.Broccers wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:16 am40000V8Granite wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 10:50 amHow many miles did you do in the Coupe though ?Broccers wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:56 am

Not sure, I walk to work, my weekends are full of kids activities, I get driving fun from the racing, I am just finding I am having to make excuses to go out to use it- I better drive it as its sat there for a fortnight and its been cold and the discs are looking rusty..
Managed 3500 in it last year so I’ve now done about 70000 in it. Sat on 240000 kmJobbo wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 11:12 am What's the mileage on your 500E now Dave?
Seen anything good on telly recently?![]()

I look at where that money would go- another endurance race car for example and i think I would get more return there![]()
My old Carrera had candle lights; they were awful, as bad as my old Corrado’s headlights. The GT3 thankfully has xenon so one can push on at night without fear.Foz wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:15 pm Pair of new xenon bulbs ordered, that’s litronic for the fanboys, how exciting![]()
Have you been using your Vantage much? I guess the Vantage has become your main ‘weekend’ car now.Sundayjumper wrote: Tue Feb 12, 2019 7:18 pm For balance, I’ll just point out that my 996 passed its MOT last week with no advisories, having done less than 900 miles since the last one.
Apart from melting the brake pad sensors at Bedford, nothing has gone wrong for ages.
