This is a good point, that I did already know but had kinda forgotten - Tesla doesn’t just sell cars, it sells carbon credits to other car manufacturers.

https://futurism.com/tesla-sales-carbon-credits-europe

A number of major carmakers — including Toyota, Stellantis, Mazda, and Subaru — "pooled" their emissions with EV makers Polestar and Tesla earlier this year, in an effort to comply with tougher European Union carbon emissions rules.

So if Tesla sales are collapsing they likely won’t have the credits they’ve already promised to the other guys and I assume will have to compensate them. It’s a double whammy, reduced sales & extra costs.

How long before he blames Ukraine and uses it as an excuse to shut off Starlink?
Could be the play.

At what point does Musk become a threat to a nation’s security, and so professionals are sent to remove the problem? His manchild antics only work with his nearest and most-closely-related-financially.. the Emperor is naked

Oh, that was weeks ago, but they replaced the people who could or would do something about it, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Exactly what I said when they mentioned it on the news. They were suggesting “a country” could be responsible.

Most likely Russia or North Korea, but they’d never get the blame for it, somehow it would be one of the USAs current unfavourites fault.

But yeah, wouldn’t surprise me if it was some stupid thing must had decided to remove which created a vulnerability.

Tesla dealerships in Canada registered 8600 vehicle sales in the 72 hours before ev subsidies were removed. More sales in one weekend than the entire rest of the first quarter. Not fishy at all 🤔🤔

More than Q1 2024, before the current sales collapse.

“… with over 4,000 units delivered by a single location in Quebec City.”

Uhhhh…. no. I suppose if one of his other companies bought them it’s technically OK ? Unless the rebate is only for private buyers in which case the Canadian equivalent of DVLA should be able to do some analysis.

And the subsidies weren’t removed, the funding ran out because Tesla sold so many cars in a weekend. Other dealers are out of pocket having given the rebate to their real customers in good faith and now can’t reclaim it from the government.

Isn’t this what happens with all car types and became the reason for huge car storage facilities ?

Meet quotas by pre-registering cars to inflate sales figures ?

Imagine what Q4 2029 will be like !

Dave!

Yes and No Dave...

Yes companies do pre-register cars for various reason but almost never to register them and then just leave them. They Pre-Register them and push them out to the retailers with targets for sales times - Offload within 90 days at no interest cost etc.

The main reason for places like Portbury is to allow vehicles to be physically on UK soil but not "Imported" as yet so duties only need to be paid when the vehicle leaves on its way to a dealer or customer
