Yes, that's current reporting in the Financial Times. I'm talking about the way people have talked up bitcoin as a safe haven from the mainstream investment markets, the equivalent of gold, etc. Nobody seems to be saying that now. If it were regulated, that would have been mis-selling.Broccers wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 8:04 amhttps://www.ft.com/content/a97e142b-e71 ... daaeb3f723Jobbo wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 6:48 am Isn’t bitcoin always talked up as the safe place to invest when other stocks are hit? Although that article doesn’t seem to say what will happen with the recovered coins ?
Add to this what will happen with the rise in power costs that are needed to keep all it running (isn't the power draw for all crypto equivalent to Sweden or some other country?) someone has to pay the hosting costs? With no tangible product backing it up you could effectively just turn off the servers and it's dead if the cost of keeping it running outstrips it's value.Rich B wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 4:21 pmThats the entire point of Bitcoin though - it's not as though there's any actual product to go up or down in value!V8Granite wrote: Thu Jan 27, 2022 3:52 pm It’s all talked up on Twitter and social media, which is just full of moronic pages and Twitter feeds.
