I may be completely missing some detail, but why retrim it when you can just pinch the badge off the white wheel and glue it (presumably) to the black one?

I would guess it was not recessed enough on the old wheel as the previous emblem was just embossed - it would therefore have sat proud, that's why he replaced the whole centre section including foam backing.

Anyway, I'm not a fan of crests in Porsche's of that era as they always scream to me of the aftermarket wheels people put on and then stuck additional badges to...

The manual box in the 928 isn't the best and the clutch pedal is offset way over to the left. The auto box suits the car very well and, if you know how to use it properly doesn't give anything away to the manual. Harry complained about the slow pickup from start on his car, that's because it sets off in second by default. If he shifted the box into '2' and booted it, it would set off in first and will hold first until it redlines, then switches to second. At redline in '2' you manually shift to '3' and the box will shift into third and will hold third until you shift to 'D', at which point it'll shift to fourth. You can do this at any time you're driving, so if you're in 'D' on the motorway, you can shift to '3' and it'll drop down a gear for overtaking. You could even shift down to '2' if you want to cane it.

I like the all-white wheel. I think the leather-covered horn push looks nicer on Harry's car than the plastic one that was fitted and wasn't original anyway, but I've always dislike that steering wheel design so I'd still suggest he fits one of these instead: https://www.design911.co.uk/p/sports-st ... 911-74-89/

I don't like the white wheel - looks like it escaped the Miami Vice studio - but very few people love the lozenge wheel. When I had my 944, the "RS" wheel you've linked to was the one to have. (I think @Marv 's 968 may have that?). It was too spendy for me to justify - hence I swapped my lozenge for a Momo Fighter (which wasn't nearly as aesthetically pleasing, but was nicer to hold than the original).

£700 doesn't seem too expensive in the context of a 930 Turbo and being one of the nicest steering wheels ever made.

My 928 came with a black clubsport steering wheel. I swapped it for a stock burgundy lozenge wheel - looks much better.

And you are right - clubsport as opposed to "RS" that I called it. It's been about 20yrs since we sold the 944

Fully agree. It was more hard to justify on a 944S2 that we'd bought for £5k.

I believe it was called an RS wheel in Ford circles, so you're still kinda right Mik! Manufacturer is Atiwe. Think Mike1215 has one on his Cosseh.

That. Given that opportunity, wouldn’t you have done 50 laps on a sim - any sim - to know where the track went.

Also interesting to see Harry (who is quite a wealthy man) splashing in the playground of rondinculously wealthy individuals.

edit: Harry has posted vids of his Project8 on track, and he used to do hillclimbs and sprints etc in his 60's Elan back in the day - so I think this is a "I have no idea where this track goes" issue. Hence my comment above.

Also interesting that HoracioP hasn't driven this car.
