No. That’s actually the new Mini. And it’s utterly ruined.

Compared to the new Mini Countryman, which looks like a Ssangyong, I’d say that’s pretty good. They’ve got rid of those appalling Brexit rear lights at least.

ETA: on closer look they are still part of the union flag but being triangular they don’t look so bad. Hmm.

I saw an in the wild photo of one yesterday for the first time, if it wasn’t for the mini badge I never would have guessed it was a mini. Even then I thought it was a random Chinese thing with a badge stuck on.

They’ve got the same problem as the fiat 500, when you base your whole design model around a 1960’s automotive icon there’s only so much you can actually do with the styling. The electric 500 looks great I think, but that’s only the 3rd update to that cars look, whereas this is the 4th or 5th of the mini? So it’s kind of a finding something to change so that people will want it and also so that people who know nothing about cars will recognise it as something new
