In relevant recent history they lived together. Most of the Middle East had no borders 'til we carved it up and told everyone who could live where. See also India and Pakistan.

Depends what you mean.. I fly with people who flew aircraft that only US and UK armed forces saw, we have cross training that supports and improves both our armed forces lethality. Donald Trump is POTUS for one term only (hopefully) and we have built a relationship over decades of common interest.. a 4 year set back is not sufficient imho from what people have sacrificed to achieve. The USA is not one person and I hope that will be apparent sooner rather than later.
Sorry Ian, I disagree. I saw a good quote yesterday. It said 'Trump is a mirror, not a lighthouse'. If you think Trump and MAGA and everything that surrounds them will go away when he dies then you are very much mistaken.
Which is arguably even more terrifying. Trump is cruel, narcissistic, vengeful and capricious, but he is also largely incompetent. What comes after will be just a cruel and vengeful, but will be organised and efficient. And backed by the determination and fervour of religious zealotry.

I don't think there will be another Presidential election in the form we know it.
If the mid-terms can't be sewn up with dirty tricks (excluding women, ethnic minorities, blue states or whatever) Trump will come up with some flimsy excuse to cancel them (noises already being made about emergency powers to combat Chinese interference). There will be uproar, but ultimately nothing will stop it.
Whether they just outright cancel future elections, or only run them under Donnie's special rules, I don't know, but one thing is for certain - power will only be prized from their cold, dead hands, especially now they've all had the toddler sugar-rush of playing with the big boom boom toys.
And therein, lies the reason there will never be peace...

So it looks like the Iranian ship hit with a torpedo theyāre using in their sizzle reel was unarmed and on an Indian navy exercise that the US had been invited to in Sri Lankan waters. Sri Lanka has let another ship dock on their shore to protect them.
Sort of "be careful what you wish for" to the hardest of hardcore MAGA nuts...
And in the same vein, while the Iranian regime isn't on the side of good, decapitation doesn't solve anything, if you're walking away when you've decided you've "won". It is likely to end up far worse than what's going on in Libya.
I think Trump is starting to realise that Israel has pulled him into a pile of shit thatās going to make Afghanistan look like a swift and decisive victory.

I think weāre seeing Trumps real intentions over the last few days. Reduces Russian sanctions and then calls up Putin. Who knows what they actually said but Russia now open to selling gas to EU if they also drop sanctions.
At the end of the day he is a Russian asset and this is the start of normalising relations with Russia again. Russia are in a dire financial situation if our media is to be believed so this cash lifeline is coming at a very opportune time.
As for Iran he wants a leader that he likes - clearly this is Venezuela again but just with a bit more explosions. Probably wants to maintain the hardline goat fucking clerics but have someone who just isnāt into nukes as much so he can strike up an oil deal.
If he gets it all done within the next few weeks (I think his original aim was 4-5 weeks) heāll do well financially. The whole Middle East is running out of good old American munitions and you still want to the crazy goat fuckers in power to maintain instability and future sales.
