'I do however like the term PRB, Pensioner Racing Beige which may be ageist

'
At 72 I resemble that remark, but my car is Miami Blue.

Very funny to top off a discussion started by some questionable humour with some questionable humour tbh.

Have it wrapped in PRB? Obviously has to be flat colour and look about right for an under brewed cup of milky tea.

To state my obvious position John, get it bought. I've had two and of course now I want another. Being a massive tall bell end though, it'll have to be an SV. Maybe try both gearboxes. I love the six speed personally.
I'm not quite in the correct financial situation at the moment but I'm enjoying window shopping and expanding my Caterham knowledge

I had to look through a second time to spot that there are transparent garage doors on it. I don’t like them being transparent but they’re a lot more convenient than normal side-hinged doors which are more typical on that sort of garage.
Makes me think I need to use the first floor space in ours better. Currently it’s occupied each year by a couple of families of house martins who haven’t yet arrived for the spring but will doubtless do so in the next few weeks. I’d feel a bit guilty removing their nesting space now. Paul Heaton and Norman Cook probably expect to fly from Africa straight to their second home now

I've recently loaded the autotrader price checker plugin on my laptop and I'm starting to wonder whether dealers are using automated plugins or algorithms to match prices to what is "market" on a continual basis, including when other similarly spec'd cars get listed at higher prices.
A number of the listings jump up inexplicably - counter seasonal as one car seemed to increase in January (its a 458 not a 4x4) which makes no sense. That particular one has also been for sale for 3 years apparently. I mean guys, if it hasn't sold in that time its on for too much!
Starting to see that top end modern classic cars are becoming more similar to the housing market than other areas of the car market.

I'm still casually looking at Caterhams as a future purchase.
Bloke on TehLotusForum has just swapped his Evora for a Cat as it wasn't getting much use, so he figured he could turn the
compromise knob up a little.
@Jobbo exterior.
Caterham Seven 1.8K VVC, 181 bhp, 6 Speed. TVR reflex purple metallic paint.

Vertu motors put a price list in the showroom window each morning of their used car stock, and Evan’s halshaw use qr codes in the windows of their used cars instead of putting in a price- I assume so they can have an algorithm say if we sell 3 Ford focus thismorning stick an extra 500 on all of them this afternoon

Interesting. In this case though they have only one in stock so I think they are "comping", as we say in my trade, to other dealers / anything listed online.
Still power to us as buyers though ultimately as if I'm going in to do a deal on a 458 that's been for sale for 3 years I'm going to be knocking 20k off irrespective of what they think "the market" is for that car.

While I like that Caterham, I bet it wasn't much cheaper than the one John posted recently. I'd be going for the much newer one with the Sigma engine.
ETA: OK, a fair few grand cheaper and does have a 6-sp box and more power. But it's over 20 years older:

In my last months as a general manager at Stratsone (2008) we had to carry out a weekly price check to make sure that we were the cheapest within 60 miles, and the price would end in a 1 if it was new in stock, 2 after 3 weeks (I think), 3 after 4 weeks, then 4 after 6 weeks.
Prices could go up if equivalent cars in the 60 mile radius were sold.
After 8 weeks unsold I had to trade it out to another dealer in the group at the CAP book price.
This meant that if I had a customer for a '4' car at another dealer in group I could gamble on waiting a few days then buying it from them at less than it was probably on their books at and sell it on at a decent profit.
It also meant that unloved cars e.g a 2.5 manual S-type in gold with beige would just be on a UK trip around the Stratstone dealers costing each manger on their bottom line rather than it just being sold off at auction when originally part-exchanged.

I’d agree with preferring a newer car although the K series does sound better. That one is a nice looking car though

Appreciate it's a six speed and has a loony engine, but I like it

Another very nice 7 I can't afford

SV with lowered floors, Sigma engine with throttle bodies and this one's a 5 speed.
