I'm sure there's a simple way to get another 100+bhp out of that V8.
I wonder if anyone has done the sensible thing and put an LS in one yet.

Don't think there's the vertical space under the bonnet.

It's only half an inch difference in deck height, I'm sure a big enough hammer would get it in
iirc the reason the Ford V8 is a dog is because they couldn't fit the 4 valve heads in, so you're not making more power there without boost. Which would be it's own packaging ballache.
Maybe a nitrous kit but it's not exactly practical power

Iirc the internals are so shit if you supercharge it you get about a year or two before it self destructs

It's easy enough to get uprated internals. There are Americans running Mod V8s into 1000bhp+, it's a how much do you want to spend question.

Given it was designed for transverse engines with a gearbox on the end there’s probably plenty of width to strap a couple of turbos on

I've always liked a good power bulge and if Hammond's Buick Riviera was road legal, I could strap a second engine on top of the existing engine, let alone a taller head!
Not sure if I £10k like it but I definitely like it.

I didn’t know they made any in estate form. Despite the red - very cool (accepting the usual “needs another 80bhp at least” caveat).
(Edit: particularly if you have an aftermarket exhaust like wot that one does - if you are going to be a shouty V8 then you’d better scamper rapidly when you bwaaarp).

Sniff and Pervert podcast recently did a talk about closure of Longbridge and how they just sold off all their mules at the end.. fiat engines, hybrid, big red kill buttons etc Probably some killer (maybe literally) versions out there

But they didn’t sell their Wheel Barrows - they were stolen in a clever ruse…

It was the width not the height that was the issue, so if anyone know the various engine dimensions...
or;

For sure, even without the MG should have come with more oomph than the Rover version. I guess the only way they could have done that is by detuning the Rover, obvs a no go with the KV6 not too far behind.
