I've been reading Dilla Time recently, all about James Yancey (who later became known as J Dilla)
An incredibly influential hip-hip producer and sometimes rapper
I've been aware of and listening to his music, and music of people he worked with for years now, but it's been really nice to see the names again, and go back and dig out their music to re-listen
He really did work with an incredible group of people, and his influence on hip-hop and modern music in general goes way further...
This is a short list from ChatGPT:
Slum Village (T3, Baatin)
A Tribe Called Quest (Q-Tip, Phife Dawg, Ali Shaheed Muhammad)
The Pharcyde
Common
Erykah Badu
D’Angelo
The Roots (Questlove, Black Thought, etc.)
Busta Rhymes
Q-Tip (solo projects)
Talib Kweli
Mos Def (Yasiin Bey)
Madlib (frequent collaborator; Jaylib)
Janet Jackson
De La Soul
Pete Rock
Proof (D12)
Frank-N-Dank
Karriem Riggins
Guilty Simpson
Amp Fiddler
Georgia Anne Muldrow
Spacek
Pharrell / The Neptunes (mutual respect and connection, limited direct collab)

Started off a bit Vic Reeves club singer. Decent tune though.
Look at how much is left of that bottle of bucky. I think I'd be a bit Vic Reeves too
If Gavster ever does a 90s throwback cooking prog., here's the theme tune;

Interesting concept, but somewhat flawed. I've got a handful of very strong Neodymium magnets that can be very useful, but I've pinched finger skin, or damaged myself fighting to remove them from something quite a number of times.
Entertaining vid regardless.....

Something I'm really enjoying at the moment is this:
nagoyaka na kaze / 和やかな風 - (quiet wind): a collection of forward-thinking electronic experiments sourced from central Japan - co-curated by Nagoya artist abentis for Facta & K-LONE’s Wisdom Teeth imprint.
The project profiles a close-knit community of music makers operating in and around the Japanese city of Nagoya: one of the country’s most populous and industrial cities, but one all too often overlooked in terms of its cultural significance.
A really strong collection of eight tracks of electronic music

Did anyone see Fred Again at the weekend? I'd gone off him recently, felt like after the original hype at the start of the decade it fell off a bit. However, everything I'm seeing from hid live show at Alexandra Palace looks like he's managed to merge genres and generations of all kinds of artists. Really epic stuff, with The Streets, Underworld, JME, D Double E and a load more... it's all going so hard, especially JME over The Streets beat.

Always loved this track and the production (other than the vocals being rather too far out-front for my liking) Bass and drums sound great (and the bass line is funky)
Skip the first 5mins if you don’t want to listen to the whole track before he starts breaking it down.

Disappeared down an LTJ Bukem hole today while doing some bits and bobs around the house...
Currently at a gig for 4 tribute acts- meteora, papas roaches, limp biscuit, and evanescent. Not normally a person to go see tribute acts but this is my whole childhood in one gig. Happy not to be the oldest person in the room nothing beats live music

That sounds aweome, in fact reminds me there's a pub near me which does loads of metal tributes and I've been meaning to pop along to check them out!

So far it’s awesome, the evanescence tribute lead singer was amazing, massive massive vocals from a tiny lady
