Harry used to own it outright on his own. I believe there was an article in a yachting mag a few years ago about the annual expenses being somewhat high so he decided to offer shares. You can also charter it for €13,800 a week.
Paying £70k for a ~1/7th share of a yacht which is worth £350-450k isn’t great value, I’d say. But it does entitle you to pay your share of the ownership and running costs.

If it flies, floats or fornicates, always rent it.. it's cheaper in the long run. Felix Dennis

Does the £70k 8 week entitlement mean you have to pay 1/7th of the running costs too? i didn’t spot the breakdown in the details?

You own a share so yes, that comes with the obligations and liabilities too. If you could buy an 8 week share for £70k and not have to cover running costs, jump at the deal

Indeed! A full time crew isn't gonna be cheap. And it says contact about allocation which I imagine means when you can use your 8 weeks. Probably the small print is that Harry and his mates have it all summer and you can have it in mid-Jan if you're lucky!

Crew? nah, how hard can it be to drive? it’s just a big caravan on the water and the wife can cook…
(that’s a joke btw…
…her cooking is rubbish.)

I don't know anyone with a boat. I imagine the owners must be an interesting mix of BG's (such as Harry M) and wealthy NBG's who just enjoy the pose

Yeah, that boat doesn't need a crew. Minimum 2 occupants I'd say - 1 to drive and 1 to jump ashore with the rope with berthing. Nothing more complicated than that.

It’s not big enough for a crew surely. The killer with these will be all the maintenance. It lives in a saltwater marina so that’ll be hull cleaning, various gel coatings, the exterior will need frequent cleaning and all the wood and metal polishing frequently. When looking at these a while back it’s surprising how many had new engines despite being on low hours overall.

i’ve been out on a friends boat a few times - similar looking but smaller (40ft). He did the various skippering courses and basically treats it like a caravan - staying on it for a few weeks at a time with his wife - popping across to the IoW etc…
i imagine a 60 ft version would definitely require a fair level of skill, training and experience to drive yourself.
Then there’s the location. You probably want your yacht in the med for the summer and the caribbean for the winter. Do you also have to include for the shipping? That £70k is only scraping the surface!

Don't forget berthing costs/shore power.
Scarborough costs about a grand a year if you don't want to be rowing out to it like a pauper, and want something harbourside. Pontoon moorings I think were more but it escapes me honestly.
I'm not passing judgement on the need for a crew BTW, it just says in the ad that it's got a full time crew.

I’m sure I’ve mentioned this before: Harry’s written for Motorboat and Yachts (mby.com) for years and actually did a piece on Perfection Valet coming over to improve his boats appearance. He used to rent it out throughout July/August, which paid for the annual upkeep, and then have cost free sailing in June/September in a quieter Mediterranean that is still lovely and warm. I think it was having to replace one of the engines that resulted in him changing to part ownership. This is actually a common method of boat ownership these days, as most people just want convenience for a week or two and reduced costs. Typically you can only reserve one week periods during peak season (but have the option to buy more than one share if you wish to have more time eg 2 shares enable a two week, peak season reservation). You can also buy boats, lease them to rental companies and make reasonable returns whilst buying a new boat every ~5 years or so.
If I remember correctly, his boat has a skipper and additional crew can be brought on if the guest required it.
There are also boat clubs now , such as freedom boat club, le boat where you join for a relatively small fee, the pay a monthly (which covers everything bar fuel) and get access to boats in UK, France, Spain, USA etc.. I know lots of people who do this, and is a fun way to get into boating.
Feel like this is a sales pitch now so I’ll stop, but boats are fun!

Why the absolute fuck would you do a “collab” with Joe Macari and let him purchase the entire manufacturing run?

Joe may well be an excellent engineer but he is quite a wheeler dealer in the car world, but (other than having owned his garage) used to keep a lot of his high profile transactions quiet.
I dealt with him when we were trying to sell Chris Evan’s 250 SWB California that Joe had knocked up as a copy of the car Chris had bought for £10m at auction, and on another occasion with a Muira and an F40.
It would not be hard for him to approach five regular clients and get hefty deposits to commission something with GMA - it show Mercedes, Porsche and Ferrari used to work with high profile USA dealers in the 50s and 60s.
