I think the correct term is "self-partnered" Beany, you bigot.
My lefty bleeding heart credentials, ruined - cancelled one might say - by one emotional outburst, a "heated gamer moment"

Sagora. Sorry for the JayEmm vid for those who don’t love him.

As I always prefer a hard one - this isn’t for me, but fair play for the effort. Don’t like the wheels.

Not quite applicable but it's been timed :D

Matron.

Yeah, that's a no from me. The wheels don't help, the hardtop looks much better (both in T350 and Sag guise). But, can't fault the effort. TVR of that era is yet another car I like, but not enough to buy one

As for Jayemm, I don't like his style but to be fair he always gets interesting cars.

Talking of Jayemm, I've been subbed to CWL since he's got a QV on long term, but he raises a point that like Jayemm, he's been ignored numerous times by Lotus for cars. It's not uncommon, Lotus seem to be really, really shit at letting YouTubers (and as much as I hate the word, "influencers") have cars .....which always seems odd.

The Defender isn’t very impressive here.

Love the Toyota.

11:08; pah, when I went across that bridge it was underwater, and night.
They all look prone to getting some natural go-faster stripes added on that lane.

I went across that bridge in an open top roadster. Don't need an 4x4

Good video though. I am intrigued that the Defender is so much worse than all of the others, and better on road; it's clearly compromised by being aimed mainly at road users. Wonder how a Discovery 4 would have done in comparison?

I think any LR on coil springs would’ve managed better. The jacked up air suspension has zero compliance so it’s like trying to off road on a skateboard.

What was weird early on was the lack of breakover angle. The ride height looked so much higher than any of the other three but coming out of the bombhole it was the only one which made a meal of it. That's not simply down to stiff suspension when it's in its highest setting.

That was really weird. I agree clearance under the Defender looked way better, and the wheelbase is (not 110" but) 119" vs the Grenadier at 115" - which isn't massively different.

I think it’s that lack of compliance. You can see it seesaw onto its sills when a front wheel doesn’t have the travel to stop the whole front end dropping into a hole.

Confusingly (for me doing a search) this Welsh location is known as the Strata Florida Bomb Hole.

Disco3 seems happy enough

It does indeed. You'd really need to compare on the same day though; weather and ground conditions make a difference but that particular feature erodes as well so the topography varies. I've never driven that one myself but I reckon the Jimny would do it fine; there are other bits of that route which would challenge it though.

Never knew Chris Harris had a thing for the 928. Some gorgeous 928s (as well as other cars) in this collection.

I’ve just realised this is the collection of David Moulsdale - founder of Optical Express. He’s from Glasgow Suburb Bishopbriggs - where this warehouse is. I suspect therefore that some of the other cars may be at his house? :?

And yeah - cool collection, but they aren’t driven, many (like their RS500) appear to have been bought cos they are stoopid low mileage, and won’t be driven. Which is car crime for me. But….. I’d still like to see them….
Turns out the Scottish branch of the Lotus forum have organised a private viewing early next year... so I'll go along and wrestle my interest in the content, and frustration at their permanent inactivity.
