I’m not sure if he was playing up the doddery old man thing or it really is that awkward and unresponsive.

I’m not really a fan of the back end, or the overly scooped out door tops, but looks like it drives and goes well and was surprised at the amount of space in the frunk. Don’t think being a v6 would put me off, but the inability of it to manage its own battery and the stupid user interface would.

I just watched that one this morning and it was pretty dull tbh. All those menus to disable the ADAS stuff? Some manufacturers seem to be cottoning on quickly that people will just want a quick way to turn them off, but I guess not Ferrari. Although maybe that's not something that's easy to do mid-lifecycle, hence the menus.

With Harry, I'm not sure if having experience of lots of different cars is a help or a hindrance when it comes to navigating menus like that.

As for the car, incredible performance, but it's all a bit "meh" and I'm not entirely sure why.

In contrast, I love the Defender Octa. I really shouldn't; it's too expensive, it's too heavy, I worry about JLR reliability and the Defender is becoming a bit of a ubiquitous tw4t car rather than the Disco replacement which it ought to be based on capability. But the wide arches and clever suspension - and lack of availability in black - make me warm to it. It reminds me of the Merc G63 4x4 squared.

Just got to the Defender Octa and I agree, I'd much rather have that!

I've always loved how the new Defender looks and the styling of this one is spot on. Of course you don't need the power and it weighs a tonne, but really like it.

Land Rover brought a selection of their cars and their usual metal off road jigs to the local county show. Got to see and poke around the OCTA and it’s proper special looking. Then again it was over £150k. The stance is so wide. I found the sound a bit too muffled though, even valves open but that’s just regulations.
Definitely one for the lotto garage.

Blimey - £2.5k to change from perforated to flat leather. Would have had to feel awful to justify that.....

Oh, and the 6 month video mentioned the accumulators needing to be replaced regularly but said they were £300 a corner. That's gone up to £500 a corner. Elsewhere I've seen £1000 a corner. Get into McLaren accumulators; they seem to be great business with those sort of price increases.

He also didn't mention getting the bodywork corrosion on the wheelarch fixed. It's still visible in this new video. I wonder if it wasn't covered by the dealer? After watching the video I thought I very much fancy a 650S; he really talks it up. But the costs and reliability are not quite what he has experienced across the board.

Only watched the first 90 seconds of this so far, but I was mad for Fast Lane magazine in my youth and they were fans of the big Listers.

This one sits on questionable wheels, but still looks great. There was one in the village I grew up in that I saw (mostly heard) about 3x as a spotty teen and got all frothy mouthed.

Was just about to post that @mik ! It makes a rambunctious noise supercharger wine on a trailing throttle then a full throated V12 roar when the accellerator is pushed which is absurd and wonderful. Harry seems to really like it.

I enjoyed the video but I always thought the Lister XJSs looked pretty bad and it hasn't made me like them more. When you're widening the arches that much, you have the opportunity to change the shape of the arch cut-out (round would be nice) but they didn't bother. The higher tail and wider arches make it very, very obvious how ungainly the rear overhang looks. And the lifted rear taillights creating the empty space below them is bad on any example but that one has a couple of aftermarket reflectors not quite fitting the gaps so looks even worse.

At least it was functional which seems not to have been a given even decades ago with these. But overall a large amount of Do Not Want. Give me a standard (not the final facelift with the dark rear lights and not even TWR) XJS please.

To be fair - you’d probably use it less than 8 weeks a year if you bought it outright…..

Timeshares for a yacht. Would could possibly go wrong.
