It's clean and no longer sticky. It still looks shit, thought, because it's worn.

Replace might be a lot quicker & easier.
And the steering wheel too.

Yeah, I'm keeping half an eye on eBay. Semi-considering Momo wheel and aftermarket seats, but not sure what's good for mainly road and the occasional trackday without going nuts that will go with the grey interior.Sundayjumper wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2019 3:05 pmReplace might be a lot quicker & easier.

I think the standard seats will be a bit rubbish for track days. Too slippery. So:NotoriousREV wrote: Mon Jul 15, 2019 3:11 pm ...not sure what's good for mainly road and the occasional trackday...

Re: eBay 996 build thread
I don't know how bad the seats are, but I used one of these kits on the bolsters of the sports seats on my compact and was really pleased with the results.

Fixed a couple of small holes and recoated a large section which had lost all its top layer and was more like suede. Seemed to be holding up well in every day use too.

I thought I disliked the above at first but it would actually really lift the interior by making you look at the alcantara instead of that awful grey colour
Edit - Mik - may I ask how much he charged if you've used him? Always wanted an alcantara wheel. My Caterham wheel is tiny, it should be cheaper

Ooh, I do quite like that in Alcantara!
I'd seen someone suggest it was less than £100. Is that right?

They're usually about £120 for BMW wheels depending on material, stitching, extras.

I haven’t used him myself, but yeah that pricing sounds aligned with what I have heard. He’ll also thicken the rim etc (ooh er missus).

A somewhat gentle e-start. First clutch-killing attempt not shown (hey, guess what: a car with lots of grip will spin it's clutch more than anything else! Who knew?
