Sounds good! I sense you'll soon settle into it and gain confidence.
I can't remember what uplift you're getting, but you can't beat that sweet sweet new job first pay cheque dropping.
IIRC he’s doubled his salary so it will indeed be sweet.

Oh yes.

50% increase, not doubling, but that's still a big chunk and a big difference.

Spent this afternoon helping my neighbor sort out his serpentine belt on his GT86, reward tonight was beer and burning things.
Was quite good to talk tech and actually understand a lot of it, now that I'm working with more modern concepts.
Also we night have smoked the street out.
Whoops.
He's doing some monthly maintenance for my old employer (they understand I'm no interested, and he was my predecessor and is familiar with the platform at a broad level - he's told me how much he's getting paid for it and I don't care

) so he knows I'm good for info on that in exchange for beer and not having to talk to them directly, and his cat chose me over him a few times for lap privileges so I'm happy
Overall, a pretty good day.

So, company meeting. Started off polite, ended up with us getting kicked out of the bar at half past 10. We could definitely have suffered another round....
Apparently I work here now.
The company meeting actually starts tomorrow. It'll be fine
Some surprising car interest in the company, I'll be sure to chase that up.

*checks bank balance*
*Heavy breathing intensifies, foams at mouth*
Also I'm observing the ISO27001 audit today, seeing as I'll be heavily involved in it next year.
Today is my birthday.
I am amazing.
Also, as befits my advanced years, I've slept funny and tweeked something in my neck/shoulder so a full day of Teams meetings will be....fun...

Oh fuck no, quiet night in. That, and being perma-remote means that being hung over is of no entertainment value to anyone
Edit: Wow ISO27001 auditing is pretty intense

Ive taken a previous company through an ISO27001 accreditation. Its alright as long as you work with the auditor points. We implemented Microsoft Endpoint Manager in prep for the assessment and had a lot of change policies in place.

Yeah, most of it is applied common sense, my problem is I've been here five weeks so I've not had time to fully embed myself with our implementation - but the management know that, as does the auditor so they're being gentle with me.

Minimal. They have in fact got my predecessor doing basic maintenance for them for a couple of hundred quid a month.
He understands if he wants to ask me something, it'll cost him beer and curry

It's typically very simple stuff - clearing temp files, moving some things about to maintain space, etc.
If it needs more than that - his day rate is....rather more, with a minimum one day. Even if it takes 5 mins to fix.
He's no fool
