LG was a resident at The End, i used to go there quite a bit, including the “end of the end” closing party. That was big night - we were in the club at about 8pm or something for the long run!

I'm off to see Elvana at Leeds O2 academy at the end of this month, who are supposed to be pretty decent and good fun by the sound of it.

Oh and Madness in the big arena in December, thats for the boy (9 years old) as they're his favourite band, I'm very much looking forward to that!

Not really seen anyone else this year sadly other than Peter Hook, and a few small local bands in the US and Canada.

I need to make more of an effort next year but not many people I know are up for going to see bands, and it's hard now my parents are away for us to go anywhere as a couple as our babysitters have gone

Mrs Mike and I are off to see Radiohead in London next month and she's off with the girl to see Raye which might be at the start of next year, I can't remember now actually.

Madness put on a great show!

Lol, an 8pm start is like people camping out on Christmas eve for the sales

i left at about 7:30am the next day, but some of my mates (the ones who did more drugs than me) were still in there sunday night. It was pretty messy….!

Oasis last weekend. I passed up the chance to see them a few times in the 90s, not quite the same as back then I guess but still well worth it.

Richard Ashcroft was ace too.

We went to see Autechre at a club in Brighton last night

I have mixed feelings

It kind of made me think of taking a sauna, or a really deep tissue massage - they're nice when they stop

And while they're happening you're thinking "why did I pay for this?!"

It was quite an unpleasant experience, but it was an experience

The first half was pretty full-on, but the second half became more melodic (a bit)

I guess like a lot of art, it exists just because, and it makes you question things (what is art, what is music) - either by design, or by coincidence

Anyway, I'm glad I went, I've experienced it - but a bit like Kraftwerk (a life-long favourite since early electro/breakdancing days, and another band I've only seen the once), I'm not really left with any desire to see them again...

(Not in a bad way)

I'm not sure, but I think they might just be taking the piss...

I tried to listen to some Autechre years ago and it made me realise I listen to music to be entertained and it really wasn’t hitting that button

@Gavster I've never really been into them either - some of their early stuff is more approachable and actually listenable, but they're one of 'those' bands who I kind of feel compelled to experience. Getting early access to a gig I could walk to and home from felt like the best/easiest opportunity to tick that box

Autechre is one I've never got into though now and again feel I should given them a listen. See also Apex Twin, Cabaret Voltaire. Similarly, I heard Throbbing Gristle for the first time recently, which led me to Chris and Cosey aka Carter Tutti, which led me to Factory Floor, who I saw live the other week, and they were great.

Never seen Kraftwerk live - nearly bought a ticket to their multimedia tour next year but at £100+ I'm thinking I'll just watch the AV display on someone's YouTube recording of it.

I bought Autechre's Amber in 1994 on tape. I still have a couple of the tracks off that on a playlist. Never really listened to anything else they did. Similarly have a couple of Aphex Twin albums on CD but never really listen to them either.

Was lucky enough to see Kraftwerk a few years ago at the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester - was bloody brilliant. Although I did miss most of Das Model as I needed a pee.

I don't think I'd realised just how many members there have been of the group over the years!

I never got into Autechre either. They always sounded to my ears like they'd been let loose on Kraftwerk's equipment, but never shown how to use anything properly.

I really liked Aphex Twin Selected Ambient Works when it came out, but never really got into his subsequent stuff. I remember taking the CD with me to test some big Cerwin Vega speakers in some HiFi shop in Glasgow circa 1992, and asking him to put on Ageispolis - where the bass is mixed so loud that it's distorted on the recording. I can still recall the face the audiophile bloke pulled when it properly kicked in.....

I've just spent the weekend in Glasgow with some music types, and amongst various new musical discoveries, I found this gem. I think the performance can be safely described as "full weejie"
