The one where he asks whether the car is still available has made me smirk all day.

Similar angle to the F40 vid. Very
Alesi crashed it later in the weekend. Weird one as the other driver was stripped of the win, hard to tell if there was deliberate contact though.

I watched the replay of that Alesi accident over and over on YouTube the other day to try and figure out what might have happened
Initially it looked like Alesi binned it (11s on the road, swerving into the wall)
I think Werner may have nudged him slightly, but I don't think the punishment fitted the crime
Apparently Werner was on pole by some margin, but Alesi jumped him at the start and then drove defensively to keep Werner at bay - he just couldn't pass
Real shame it ended how it did
There's loads of content of this event on YouTube btw...

A guy on twitter (I know, solid source ) reckon's that Alesi might have missed a shift and slowed down a little, leading Werner to tap his wheel.

Yeah sounds feasible.
Werner had been all over the back of him for lap after lap.
Very little room for avoidance when you're on the throttle and so close behind a car that doesn't accelerate as you expect (missed gear, spinning up the tyres etc)

I saw it live, the Ferrari was always faster on the straights but Werner made up ground under braking and in the corners so Alesi was driving very defensively/ borderline blocking. Speculation was that he missed a gear because the car suddenly accelerated much slower and Werner bumped him.
The podium was a cringe fest too. He was first, then Alesi talks to the officials and its all halted, then they gave him a 15 second penalty, so he didnāt stand on the podium and left his trophy. Then the guy who got promoted to first placed the first place trophy on Wernerās Lotus.
Alesi said afterwards that itās not a passing place and he was nudged and didnāt even mention anything about missing a gear, but it is odd that lap after lap Alesi out pulled Werner on the straights but suddenly seemed to slow down.
My dad summed it up nicely with āthatās all I ever remembered from Alesi, stood at the side of the track looking at his broken Ferrariā
