Lots rave about Carflimits but I didn't personally like it. Caveat - I've only done action days or whatever they're called, not the 1:1 stuff.

AD08R will be fitted.
What's the thinking re AD08R over Cup 2s? Genuine question as I know little to nothing about the Yokos.
Looks like the Cup 2s come in the right size for the GT3 (285/30/18?).

Same Q as I'd thought the same. I'd err towards putting Cups on a GT3

Get the training, a set up that is a bit more friendly, then stick the cups on it..

remind me, when are you doing Car Limits?
Thur 31st Jan (thanks mik). I was hoping to do it at Blyton Park, but it seems no event there this year.
Anyway I’ve booked, so only one place left.

Yeah, activity day is quite different (and rubbish).
I did CAT Driver Training at Millbrook about two and a half years ago, but found it poor VFM, not enough driving time.

I thought Cup 2s ain’t so good in the wet? I know even hot hatches have them nowadays....
Mine’s a weekend/road trip car + 6 track days per year, so I’m not sure. Shame PS4S don’t do 18s.

From a brief google, people seemed to be suggesting it was the other way round - the Cup 2s had the edge (marginally) in the wet but perhaps not quite as good on track as the AD08Rs. Remember the Cup 2s were supposed to be a night and day improvement over the Cup 1s in the wet.
Were Cup 1s standard on the 6.2 GT3? Maybe that was only the RS.

Hmmmm, just read three German independent tests and they all concluded that Cup 2 were fine in the wet (for track day/summer tyres). Just need to decide if I want to spend the extra £££.
Early (2003) cars came with Pilot Sport, then later cars PS2. Not sure about 6RS, but around the same time Carrera GT came with P-Zero Rosso; E46 CSL came with Pilot Sport Cup.

Gonna struggle this month, unfortunately.
Just bought two nearly new MPS4Ss on my Renault 19" diamond cut wheels, for about the same amount (and less than the cost of two new MPS4Ss). Oddly, only one of them arrived yesterday but the other should arrive today.

This reminded me of the angle-grinder discussions we had back in November..... which gave me a new respect of the risks associated with using one.
Some non-gory pics that may be useful for others.....

Fuck.
I've got much better at making myself wear safety glasses. In fact I've slowly become more risk averse, I think primarily because I'm no longer employed with the cozy backup of sickpay etc. If I can't work, I don't earn.
Stupid friend of mine is off work (captain for Emirates) sick with a heart condition. I road cycle with him and recently he's
averaged 220bpm on rides with me.

He's decided to give up endurance sports and sold his road bike. He thought he'd invest in a good MTB instead. Took himself to the local trailcentre, launched off a gap jump and snapped both bones in his wrist. He's got the luxury of sitting at home on full pay. It made me think how fucked I'd be in the same situation.

Exactly the same here. Can't imagine what it's like lying in bed not earning!! Being a bit of a pussy is a good start though tbh.
How the hell can anyone think it's OK to average more than your maximum heartbeat?!!

Oh he knew it was wrong, he's done loads of endurance stuff - 24hr bike races, Ironmans etc. I can't remember the condition but his heart generates its own electricity and has extra unnecessary beats. It's a condition that's often found in ultra athletes who have exercised the heart too much.

Yup - that's not healthy. I always thought the guideline maximum is supposed to be 220 minus your age.
I went for a run for the first time in a few months at the weekend and my heart rate was 196 on my fitbit which I thought was a bit toppy (though mine has always been high, irrespective of fitness level).

Yeah that is high. I can push into mid-180s at full effort (flat out sprint).
Be mindful the fitbit might not be incredibly accurate unfortunatley.

Replaced the scrapped Clio with an '08 Mazda 2 1.3TS. First impressions are really quite good. Gearbox is brilliant, driving position very good too. Main thing about it is it's really very green.
Needed two tyres on the back:
