It's a car designed by the French and built by Italians. I'm sure that's a sensible idea.

That's not strange; the 406 was a tough act to follow and it looks like they didn't bother trying... IIrc from reviews at the time, it drives better than the 406, it's more GT than schport, and it's v. quiet inside - double glazing etc. That one has the 3.0 diesel as well, more oomph, mpg, and reliability (?), plus cheaper rfl than the 2.7. You could even go semi Jobbo on the interior;

That interior spec is lovely. Really nice leather and it’s ok the dash as well as the seats.
