The newer “hot V” turbo V8’s still sound good, but not in the same way that the old 6.2 normally aspirated lumps in the early C63 etc do. Filth in the best possible way. One of the few cars that sounded better than my VXR8.

In the absence of a 22B, I’d still very much like an RB320 please

The idea of a centrelock nut (with - presumably - a torque requirement around the 600Nm level that Porsche / Lamborghini etc use) on a carbon wheel just made me shudder. :? Presumably there is a metal "core" in that area that the carbon is bonded to?

Shudder away...

Your usual reminder that the most elite racing cars still use magnesium wheels over carbon fibre.

Carbon wheels are just a bit of bling for people who prefer to talk about their car than drive them

So impractical, look at all the corvettes getting mashed in on kerbs and by tyre fitters

Like many engineering things.

I understand the logic.

I understand the force diagrams and where the stress goes.

I understand why they manufacture them like they do.

I understand the quality control procedures.

I just don’t believe it though so no, that’s a big fat no from me 😂

Dave!

Just remembered something from F1 - someone was asking why they don't use pigmented carbon fibre on the F1 cars like we see on supercars. Engineer replied that it negatively affects the properties of the carbon and can reduce its strength, and as all the bodywork on a F1 car is stressed rather than cosmetic panels it's a no go and wrapping/painting is much preferred.
So sounds exactly like something you don't want on wheels!

Would look good on the trailer for a deep sea submersible.

Wheels are too big, and need to be replaced with something more contemporary, but otherwise, big yes.

However, £650k?

Yep, that does it. Even thought it’s basically a 30 year old design, it looks epically better that the t50. The perfect home for that engine.

I’m usually not big on ModTro designs, and that is VERY reminiscent of the original….

But.

I think it looks great 8-)
