Must say I haven’t heard of a Strikemaster before but the specs look thoroughly underwhelming

It’s apparently an armed version of a jet provost, which was actually a piston engined aircraft (the Percival Provost) adapted into a jet design rather than a ground up jet aircraft
So if it seems a bit shit spec wise remember it’s use with the raf was as a training aircraft rather than an attack platform and was replaced by the gnats in 1962 (which ultimately got replaced by hawks)

Lancaster just flew over my house in its way to Silverstone
A Spitfire flew past on its way to Duxford earlier. While they're a fairly familiar sight and sound, when they're going A>B they fly faster than when on tourist trips so sound different and I wonder if it's more the sound heard in period than the one we usually hear. It changes the mood from "ooh, Spitfire " to "ooh, Spitfire ". I think the Lancaster has a similar effect because there isn't anything vaguely similar heard on a normal basis.

An F15 flew over Sheffield today which is very rare for this area, apparently it had a pressurisation problem so was probably taking the most direct route back to Lakenheath.
