Related topic - gruesome way to go, but at least it should have been fast….

Probably a bit early to state definitively, but it would appear the employee didn’t follow procedures.

That’s now been confirmed - NTSA have cancelled any further investigation.

Strange choice of way to go. :?

Just had a Gloster Meteor fly over - that can't be too common to hear and see?

I'm pretty sure that one is owned by Martin Baker, certainly a rare spot.

Must say I haven’t heard of a Strikemaster before but the specs look thoroughly underwhelming

It’s apparently an armed version of a jet provost, which was actually a piston engined aircraft (the Percival Provost) adapted into a jet design rather than a ground up jet aircraft

So if it seems a bit shit spec wise remember it’s use with the raf was as a training aircraft rather than an attack platform and was replaced by the gnats in 1962 (which ultimately got replaced by hawks)

^ Seeing one is always a special event 8-)

I think this is today's; https://globe.adsbexchange.com/?icao=43c392

A Spitfire flew past on its way to Duxford earlier. While they're a fairly familiar sight and sound, when they're going A>B they fly faster than when on tourist trips so sound different and I wonder if it's more the sound heard in period than the one we usually hear. It changes the mood from "ooh, Spitfire :D " to "ooh, Spitfire :o ". I think the Lancaster has a similar effect because there isn't anything vaguely similar heard on a normal basis.

An F15 flew over Sheffield today which is very rare for this area, apparently it had a pressurisation problem so was probably taking the most direct route back to Lakenheath.

I mean technically he’s correct, as there’s 2 still flying. But the one based in Canada doesn’t come this way often
