Yep, even when the prices go up and the trucks are queuing at Dover they'll still be blaming the EU.

Maybe the Italians if they're successful in getting their debt wiped? The Germans might not be too chuffed though

We have the slowest economy in Europe. Cutting ourself off from our largest trading partner is not a way to remedy that situation.

But we aren't cutting them off. It seems they're keen to cut us off because we won't agree to certain terms in an FTA, that literally no other nation has or ever would agree to. Trade with the EU, however, will not simply cease. It may get more expensive. But then trade outside of the EU will get cheaper.

Also not sure on what planet we have the slowest economy in Europe when Greece is bankrupt and the Italians haven't grown in real terms since the late 90s, to name but two.

But trade outside the EU will get more expensive as well as we won't be party to the agreements negotiated by the EU with other countries.

Well, apart from all the ones we've been rolling over on? It's over 50 now I think. We've also agreed to drop the tariffs that were imposed by the EU on US produce as part of their EU vs US aviation subsidies battle. So expect sales of the likes of Scotch Whisky and other UK spirits to become cheaper in the US, and vice versa.

ETA: the UK has 28 FTAs signed with 57 countries, totalling £200bn. There's a further 10 continuity agreements in discussions, and 7 FTAs - incl US and EU which, let's be honest, look like they won't be happening any time soon.

The EU has 37/38 FTAs with 53/54 countries (concluded) and a further 43 that are yet to be concluded e.g. CETA isn't yet fully concluded despite being signed 4 years ago...that's the quick-moving EU for you

I think some people have been suckered into the utterly negative narrative they have decided to read online. They only look at information that makes them feel they are correct. It's like taking a strawberry acid and dancing on the spot doing the same thing over and over until coming round in a few years to learn there's more to life than doing that same old same old.
